Is the only solution a new mouse? (It works completely fine in other games it's a Logitech G5 gaming mouse, around 3 years old)
Or is it CCP for having two indescriminate clicks on a screen to move a ship after what is generally a laggy transition from one side of the gate to another?
It's starting to get expensive unfortunately, I just lost 57 million worth of ship and modules senselessly in a situation I could easily have gotten out of but couldn't by the time I realise from rotating zoomed out yet again that my ship had uncloaked itself and started wondering off in a random direction, allowing it to get webbed down to death by cruisers.

I lost a crusader to a pair of tristans because of this.
And I still play with my touchpad :) wouldnt have it any other way. Also, lets me chat that much faster... less travel between mouse and keyboard.. OHGODS BELOW THIS LINE IS MY SIG !!!! SRSLY! I, too, have had this problem. Except rather than lose ships due to soaring in an unfriendly direction, I lost kills because I was the fleet tackler and I soared out of range
New mouse revolved the issue, it's good to replace it every 1-2 years. Cheap too.

I had the same problem when I bought an expensive logitech mouse so I went and got a cheap optical usb mouse and it's been great ever since :)

Never spend lots on money on mice or keyboards, just go with your standard $10 Logitech optical and everything will be fine.

why? the system works just pay attention to what your doing and keep your finger off the mouse buttons unless you know what your ship is doing ___________________________________________________

What a stupid quote... Unless you can't afford it, that's idiotic...
That 10 buck p-o-s can't compete with 4000-5000 dpi, no matter the application...
Personally I prefer Razer above everthing else, had like 7-8 so far, since the very early days and none of them lasted less than 3 years and only 2 of those messed up anyway, still have the rest. http://www.battleclinic.com/kill_sigs/signature_display.php?string=McBrite |

@OP
Try adjusting the double click speed of your mouse. If you speed it up a bit it may stop you accidentally double-clicking when you actually mean to do two single clicks fairly quick in succession.

I replace my Microsoft Wheel Mouse Optical about ever 8 months for this very reason. They use sub-standard switches that wear out quickly and start doing crazy stuff like double-clicking or not clicking at all. I'd get a different mouse entirely but I love the shape and feel of that mouse and no other that I've tried satisfies me (*insert joke here*). They are pretty cheap though so it's no biggie for me. I actually bought a 5 pack the last time I ordered hehe! ---

Edited by: Vidi Angelus on 17/12/2009 20:07:49 The ability to choose if a key must be pressed while clicking to move, placed in the menu would be a very simple, effective & easy to implement option.
But lets face it, It'll never happen.
Of the 8 stealth bombers I've lost in the past 2 months, 5 have been due to this (mainly due to a Samsung laptop touchpad that thinks its being clicked while typing on the keyboard, Although the issue is *very* common with dell laptops)

um... our ships are at a seperately set speed, just like Khan's stolen cruiser (FULL IMPULSE POWER!!!). W and S would be pitch. Khan's problem was that he was only using A and D.
Moot point tho, WASD would equal deadly lag in EVE's server structure. For twitch based controls, look to your more limited mass market games in your local gamestore. -----

I didn¦t lose any ships to this so far, but it has happened to me too .... luckily i was always able to get back into RR Range :)
For me the mouse was the culprit. I had an old MS Explorer 3.0 (complete with burnmarks and all) that i use when my wireless mouse is empty. Now since i rarely use my windows for anything other than playing Eve it took me a while to figure this out. My mouse always issued a double-click when i clicked ...
After doing some stuff on the Desktop it became obvious pretty quickly (hey, i clicked this once, why is it opening the file ?).

A corp mate and I were mining using several accounts a couple of years ago and noticed that after a few alt-tabs one of the barges would just start flying away on it's own in a random direction. We chalked it up to a GM testing us to see if we were macros. LOL! ---
