I was just looking through the sov changes and started wondering to myself, what the HELL is up with the little period after the alliance names? Is it supposed to make us think they are the be all and end all? That they are REALLY hardcore? They should really be embarrassed with themselves imo.
And even worse, it's kind of like some douchey Abercrombie and Fitch fad.

please, if I'm missing some... let me know.

Same name without the period taken confounded by a lack of imagination.

Sorry man, but to me it's kinda sheepish. Like some alliance did it, and all the sudden all these geeks come out of the woodwork and think, "wow that really hardcore, theres a PERIOD at the end of their name.... I'm gonna make my corp and alliance that way too".
If it were one or 2 alliances, I could see it being ok, but dang...
Seems like you would purposely not do it at this point.

Corp with name X wants name X for their alliance, but it's already their corp name, so they choose the most similar name they can find, and a . is rather inconspicuous. Basically, when you see "Something something the Name of alliance." you don't really notice it because we're used to having dots at the end of our sentences.

If I recall correctly, it has something to do with unique names applying across both corporate and alliance names (and maybe even character names).
Pretty sure it was how BOB was permanently killed after being disbanded.

Btw, anyone know who the originator was? I'd be happy to give them there props for starting a really lame trend.
And ok, if the names already taken, maybe just be creative or intelligent enough to perhaps come up with a new name? Although I do agree, Eve has a ton of names taken up from players/corps that maybe existed for about a month 4 years ago.
