One of my accounts has been permabanned. I was not contacted in any way by CCP either before or after this happened. The Pop-up message when I try and log in fails to give a reason why GM Capella did this (although there is clearly a space for this information to be entered). A petition filed immediately has not been answered after 48 hours.
Is this the normal way CCP treats its customers? (By the way I am absolutely baffled, as my account is five years old, I have never had any trouble, and I certainly haven't done anything that would warrant this per the bannable offence list). Anyone have a similar experience?

Edited by: Estel Arador on 19/12/2009 13:37:51 Do the smart thing and wait for your petition to be answered. It wouldn't be the first time that someone who "did absolutely nothing wrong" gets publicly owned by a GM.

My best guess is you were probably botting and got banned for it or violated the EULA/TOS.. It doesn't matter if your account is 1 day old or 25 years old, if you break a rule you will be punished. As suggested, suck it up and wait til they respond.
Oh, and be friendly,

afaik you should get a mail in most cases. Unless you did something obvious (like ISK buying etc) else you're best off waiting for a reply to the petition as mentioned.
And ofc that login message should tell you why you were banned in the first place as well. If you have done nothing wrong then just wait for the reply and I'm sure it will resolve.

Thanks Chribba - it's the fact I haven't been given a reason that was bugging me. I'm not convinced proper procedure has been followed.

If they allow an elected CSM Member to cheat with inside info directly from in person ccp meetings and make billions of isk with only a 90 day ban (Hey Lark!) I wonder what you would have to do to get a perma ban, maybe you salavaged the wrong wreck?

People have been crying out for the ISK farmers, macros, RMT, etc. to be banned for ages. CCP are making an effort to do this, but unfortunately sometimes innocent people get caught up in it.
I know of a couple of people that have had this happen - one is back in-game, the other is waiting to be reinstated. Both are quite experienced players.
I'm a bit surprised that they haven't given any reason, but I suspect they may not want to give too much away in their investigations. It's a sad state of affairs that they've had to do this, but the RMT industry needs to be stepped on quite harshly.
Good Luck with your petition, I hope it gets resolved quickly. If you've done nothing wrong, I'm sure you'll be back online soon. Overall - be nice to the GMs, getting nasty will inevitably delay things.
