What is this shortcut? I would think it would toggle the tactical overlay, but it does not seem to do anything.

My fault. My bandwidth is maxed out due a torrent downloading; I thought I hit the "Post Reply" button once but I guess not. >_>

and are u trolling yourself?
Okay, everyone seems confused:
In the menu, under the Shortcuts tab, there is a shortcut titled "Toggle Combat View" with the default key combo of Ctrl-Alt-T. I would have thought this would toggle the tactical overlay, but it does not. It doesn't seem to do anything (pressing Ctrl-Alt-T does nothing noticeable).
My question is what does the "Toggle combat View" shortcut actually do?
There, maybe I explained it a bit better that time. =)

Intrested in this aswell, it says "Toggle Combat View", not "overlay" and seems to do nothing even when fiddling with the camera

Edited by: Noriko Rei on 22/12/2009 10:54:58 Hold Ctrl-Alt-T while hovering your crosshair over a target. This function used to open a little box with a zoomed-in view of the target. I only tested it once, several years ago, and I have no idea if it still works. The combination of keys plus having to mouseover at the same time, however, made it somewhat impractical. It's much easier to click the little eye icon to view the selected item, then reset the camera.
EDIT: Just checked it again, and it does not perform this same function anymore.

Ok, I'm bored, so I'm going to take a wild guess at this. Maybe it toggles between your ship and target ship (like the eye/reset camera thing), or something similar when using the advanced camera controls for movie-making, so when you have Control+F9'nd you can control the camera view from keyboard.

IIRC it's what they use for the camera ships for the tournaments.

There used to be a mode where you could set (via right clicks) the target and source for the camera view. For instance, set source to be a drone and target to be say another drone, and get ready for a wild ride.
Not sure if this is what the op is talking about though, not near a game client to test it.

nah, that's the advanced camera menu activate in the escape menu. It add the 'set as interest' function in the in-space context menus, which sorta padlocks the thing you set as interest, allowing for drone-chasing-hilarity-and-headache-view, or just pretty pictures of less darty and small flying things.
This thing the OP is talking about simply does nothing it seems... I am now curious too :) -----
