Okay, to be fair, i've been using steam for donkeys years now, and never had too many problems with it.
I bought Left 4 Dead 2 yesterday for ú29.99, and it wont go past the splash screen. Then, to add insult to injury, I went into Game on the high-street, and they have it for ú10 less than Steam.
Anyways, I was feeling pretty annoyed, especially since nobody has answered my ticket asking "wtf is wrong with this?".
But I'm patient enough, and dug out a Deluxe copy of BF 2142 to pass the time.
I then had to download EA Download Manager.
I then tried to activate my game, so as to enable auto-patching.

The above 3 stars represent a period of brief insanity, during which several EA employees were beaten to death with a ferret attached to a piece of string.
Suddenly, Steam seems to be perfect.
p.s. if anybody can derive a moral from all this, I'll give them 5 million isk.

Moral: beating EA employees with a ferret attached to a piece of string can solve *any* problem
(its an exploit, god might perma-ban you if he catches you using it)

Steam is just that of a disgruntled sibling who sometimes refuses to do things while EA is that ******ed cousin that likes to break your stuff and cry when you say "no"

don't ever buy games from EA. once you stop playing one of their games for long enough to forget your login you are completely screwed. they will leave you out in the cold if you ever want to play your legitimately bought game.
stay very very very far away from EA at all times.
steam is mostly ok but can be annoying ;s
