The shift key keeps getting reversed. I have to hold it down to type in lower case.
*NOT* the caps lock. The SHIFT key.
HOw do I fix it without quitting the program?

Confirming this has been happening to me too, though i've been too lazy to file a bug report. My solution is to alt tab to another program (usually textedit), type a few letters, hit shift and caps lock a few times, then return to eve. Not sure how much of that is necessary, but it works.

This happened to me as well. At the time I just thought it was a bug with my computer, but alt-tabing to Word and then back fixed it.

Yeah, this happened to me too. Also, sometimes when I type and then hit "return", it doesn't send the message, but just makes another line in the paragraph (like pressing shift return).
Very annoying

Hopefully this will be fixed alongside the caps-lock issue (and a few other input related issues) in the next patch, if this keeps happening after that then please file a bug report so we can try to find out what is causing this. ------------------

I had this happen a number of times but lately it has stopped. I have been watching for it as I noticed it happened after some specific, but unknown, keyboard I/O

Edited by: Ivana Twinkle on 28/12/2009 12:00:10 in my case its the ctrl key that gets sticky, which is annoying while chatting, since i cant reply but just make multiple line answers, that i cant send :P
usually hammering the general ctrl key area helps after a while

Please, PLEASE, *PLEASE*, tell us that "a few other input related issues" does include the problem with alt-key combo characters. With national keyboards we currently cannot input a whole lotta characters.

I have also seen control being "stuck" -- which can be nasty as a click on overview turns into ctrl-click...

Edited by: tmilovan on 03/01/2010 12:23:09 Confirming problem. Sometimes shift is getting stuck, sometimes it's ctrl and sometimes random keys stop working which is a problem during combat. Also it lately happens more often :(

Edited by: Yuddhisthira on 10/01/2010 00:09:34 The worst part about this is that it often pops up when you're in the middle of a fight, when it can be fatal. You hit F1 and you expect your main weapons to start firing, but with this bug you often end up with Ctrl-F1 or Shift-F1. It's bad enough that your weapons don't fire (and in a heart-pounded PvP fleet fight you're doing so much multitasking you might not notice immediately), but if your F1 is seen as Ctrl-F1 you may have just turned off an important module like a DC2.
This has happened to me in a number of PvP fights, almost getting me (or my fleet mates) killed on a number of occasions. The sooner they fix this the better. |

I've had every problem listed in this thread, and every single one of them can be fixed by keeping textedit open... any time I lose a key or get stuck in capslock or whatever, I can alt+tab into textedit, hit a couple letters randomly, and then go back into eve, and it works fine.
