game mechanics aside.
If you lose your clone (say its used up or whatever), you don't automatically gain a new one do you? Thus you are in a position where you can effectively be. edit: while it says you do get a new medical clone if you utilise your current available clone. It doesn't specify whether or not you are only linked to a clone in a certain station or not? (i.e. what happens if said station is shut down or lost its medical bay functions) - also I'm not sure if the article was describing it as a game mechanic or actual 'real-eve' description of how it operates.
capulers aside, clones are only usually found with the rich? The average joe is still very much mortal? edit: I found the answer to this one. Clones are heavily regulated and not everyone has access to it so I will probably assume every-day civilians do not have clones. t have clones.
are ships capable of being planetside? be it for repairs or maintenance etc
is there a place with a list of known academies for pilots, planets etc or can you make this up for your story?
finally is there a place where we know if a race or faction is capable of committing certain acts or if they're (the acts) banned from conflict by Concord? Or do we have the flexibility of doing what we will with the 'scenario' of our story. so long it works within the prime fiction of faction-relations etc |

You'll find that the fiction portal moves kind of slow. As for clones in a station or facility that is shut down, in the case of capsuleers the contracts are forwarded to another facility. Considering that there's only a few legal cloning companies in New Eden, it would be safe to assume that all clone contracts at facility A (if it were closed down due to any reason), would be transferred to facility X. The active clone to prepared clone or jump clone isn't exactly the clearest, in the case of using jump clones it gets a little confusing, you just have to visualize your network of clones as all active, it's just which are you using now, but if a jump clone is killed, a new clone will be activated at facility B to fill that void.
As for ships going planetside: take into consideration the aerodynamics of the ships we use, or the lack thereof. Most of the ships are designed for space travel only, aside from maybe a few potentially aerodynamic ships (shuttles for sure) like the Rifter or something, but still those are about the size of 747, and unless it constantly flys at top speed I can't imagine it being to glide very well. Then again, strap enough thrusters to a ship and you can force the issue...but only the smaller ships for sure could make it to a planet. Most of the battleships are about the size of a city, and that'd be kind of hard to get out of a gravity well...let alone land. And last I heard, we haven't discovered anything like the Mass Effect engine yet.
Academies? Like the State War Academies? Most establishments like that should have planetside facilities, a lot of that should be all up to your imagination, just use some investigative skills if you're going to place a SWA on some planet, they'd probably be most likely to have something on a temperate planet in high-security space...maybe some elite black ops training center in low or null sec. But seriously, all up to your imagination.

Thanks for the reply. Ya have noticed its slow but its more than fine.
As for the facility being closed down, I was thinking more along the lines of being destroyed, would there be an active clone activated elsewhere automatically? |

I would think so, there's two cases for this I suppose; Focusing on a singular cloning contract
#1: Jump clone network clone dies while in storage at facility C. Treated as normal clone termination and medical clone is activated at facility X. Implants aren't really covered but if the JC was supposed to have them by contract, you might have a struggle for compensation but it might be covered. I'm sure most of it would depend on the contract type, company, and management you're dealing with. Generally life goes on as normal since memory uploads from JC to JC happen everytime you make a clone jump.
#2: No jump clones, standard 1:1 clone system. Since the clones are left blank the clone contract would transfer with only a slight amount of ISK involved. Offering a selection of do you want your new clone to be set up near the old facility or somewhere else? Since medical clones don't have implants there's nothing to worry about there. Worst thing that could happen is they move your contract to somewhere else and you wake up not knowing what anybody is saying...or maybe in a hostile environment if somebody highjacked the contract. |

Thanks Sarge, while the story is now going to take a while longer as i found myself a bit busy this past day and got a sunday filled with commitments. I hope to have it complete sometime next week but thankfully with your help I didn't write down a planetside element I had initially plotted out. now moving it to space and changing a few things. will prob wing it slightly in regards to the clone qn..will see how the feedback on the story will be regarding it...otherwise thanks for all the assist.
