well.. here's my prob.. when i was mining and a rat/rats spawn, I wait for them to come close and shoot at me, then I'll launch my drones. The weird thing is the drones just orbits.. ~_~ My drones should auto-atack enemies when they're on range right?.. What I do is still target the rats and manually command my drone to attack at least one of them.

drones only uto attack if they are in space BEFORE you are hit if you deploy them after they just float about like the mindless droids they are.
If you order them to attack they will move onto any other viable targets after the first is delt with. ----------------------------------------------

Here is another drone question I will stick in this thread: The scout drone skill descriptions is
Quote: Bonus: drone range increased by 5000 meters per skill level.
So at level 5 your drones can attack things as far as 25 km away from you? What happens if you or they fly out of range? --------- Kitten Hearder Evolution made my sig Less Entertaining than your's. |

ur base drone control is 20km, with lvl u get 25, lvl2 u get 30 etc etc. with lvl5 u can control at 45km. If ur drones have already engaged a target and he moves out of control range the drones will chase him. If they kill him and theres another target out of range they WONT attack the new target and will return.
Basically the target has to be within control range to engage, not to kill

Here is another questions. "Heavy Drone Operation" is described as: "Skill at controlling heavy combat drones. 5% Bonus to drone damage per level." Does that 5% bonus damage apply to all drone types or just heavy drones? --------- Kitten Hearder Evolution made my sig Less Entertaining than your's. |

That's a very good question and I'm still pondering this one myself. You'll notice that the bonus for Scout Drones is to effective range but neither of them defines the skill bonus for the specific drone type, rather it mentions Drones in general. I might try testing this a little further or hope we can get a definitive answer.

uhh...i heard it was all drones. just like scout skill increases range for all drones.
As for controlling drones in space it's handy to have that inflight drone window morphed into one of your main windows (like local/corp)...reason being is that you'll have an easier time right clicking and "select all"you'll enjoy drone usage much better once you master the art of rightclick, select all, right click, launch, right click select all, right click attack after a while you'll get the hang of launching your drones just at the right time that they'll auto-attack ______________________ Best darned links ingame and out (backup) |

I have a question myself about drones. Is there away to control which target they attack. I can only figure out how to launch them, at which point they auto attack.

You can have them attack anything you have targeted. Just right click on the drone or group and choose "Attack". That's the best way to use them, as it lets you focus their fire on one ship at a time, and lets you choose the priority of which ones to kill, which can be very important.
