So i left to try some other games out.To be honest once you have tried EvE nothing compares.Nothing is quite like this simulation of a space community. I was pleased to find my character still intact(i was not looking forward to starting over). This made it a LOT easier to reactivate as well. Ive got one question about the new expansion.I was looking at the new features coming to EvE.One is missing, the contracts. Will contracts not be in the new expansion? If not when will it be implemented? Can i loan isk to noobs at a percentage rate?Better yet will i be able to take advantage of them if they fail to payback a loan? (ok so its 4 questions:P) Preparing for war brings peace. |

I can only reply on the first two qquestions of yours, Cesaria:
Contracts will not be implemented upon release of Exodus as far as I am informed about that, but they will be implemented some time after the initial Release (like it happened to some Castor features as well).
How they will work exactly I have no idea either

WB!
Ive seen a few examples of how a contract system might work. One example a corp runs via a web interface is points in return for 'missions' which can be set by directors etc. Points get you assets basically. The problem ingame of course is how you proove the contract is filled (in terms of a contract system without a rather extensive query). I imagine those sorts of logistics are tough and why that part is delayed.

Edited by: David Goodwill on 18/11/2004 10:24:42 Lmao, now people will be able to run up debts in game as well as rl?!
What will happen if they couldn't pay? Ship repossesion?
Edit: Hehe, on another thought on the matter, would be funny if when somebody didn't pay, the collector was allowed to shoot them on sight. Would make for quite the east end gangster kinda feel. -----------------------------

Actually i was thinking about this. This could be implemented in any online game its very similar to xp debt. Noobs are always asking for credits/isk right? So we have them sign a loan contract.A loan for lets say 7 days.Paid back at a very reasonable interest rate. How about 5%?If it gets paid back before deadline perfect everyone is happy. If it doesnt we immediatley receive half of their isk they have at that very moment. From that point the loaner gets at least 25% of EVERYTHING they earn until the loan is paid off. I want to be a loan shark so badly!!! Preparing for war brings peace. |

I think the biggest problem will be how to avoid exploits! (probably the reason it's not in yet.
The other problem will be a way to establish that the character is going to pay you back, or at least a mechanism to make a players life miserable if they don't! I personally like the bounty hunter/collection agent idea. You don't want a character or corp getting a loan, transferring the money and closing the corp or deleting a character. Or just not bring that alt back online.
I can see it all now, as soon as contracts are available the 'First Galactic Bank of Eve' will be opened! humm, I think I'll go make a corp.....

I'm still new to this game, and barely understand the abilities of Corporations (mainly from reading updates to Shiva) but what about this for idea if they don't allow loan-sharking.
You have a corporation, you invite the Loanee into it and assign them the lowest status. That status is specifically created for Loanee's. Perhaps if you can set taxation by Access Level, you set the Taxation on that level to 20%. That way your minimizing the total energy expended to maintain your loans, and adding in a level of control.
THe downside is that I'm guessing there is no way to "force" a player to stay in a Corp for a specified amount of Play Time. Or by the amount of Taxable Income generated.
Again I don't know 90% of the game yet so this may be a bad idea, but it is an idea, and one that maybe someone with more Corp Experience can work out as an alternative if Loak Sharking isn't instituted with Shiva.
Good luck have fun, and I'm a "noob" and refuse to borrow ships or money. So not all noobs want ISK. I just want Information on how to play the game, and there are some very helpful people that are making it a reality for me :)

I create alt: "allyourmoneyarebelongtous" I borrow 100M I buy BS I escrow/trade it to my main. I delete alt.
(I can do this from a second account if you bind the contract to the account thnx to the 7 day free pass)

Now lets say that if the loan isn't paid back then everything that has ever belonged to that character is now criminaly flagged...
Looks like you either have to get rid of that BS or pay the loan. Until either is done...you arse is mine from 0.0 all the way to 1.0!

Lets just say that because of Shiva market nerfs, more and more people will buy their ships via trade windows. Person A trades the funny money to Person B. Person B is now a criminal. If they 'flagged' ISK, in a few months time the entire playerbase would be redbox-ed. Think about how many times ISK changes hands..
