wait, if I Get this right... why are you using Nvidia drivers if you have an ATI card? ---

There are no longer two versions of the Eve software. For low end cards, you have to turn off the advanced graphics in the Eve settings... but if you can't get Eve to run, then you do have a problem. Did you reboot between removing the NVidia drivers and installing the new drivers? Maybe it is not needed, but I would have done that just for sanity's sake...

Edited by: David Grogan on 31/12/2009 01:23:27 ati radeon x1300 WILL NOT run eve (doesnt support sm3)
ati x1600 WILL run eve but on low settings (barely supports sm3)
i have both cards on old pcs that now are used for a file server and a cctv cam server in my office
either upgrade your graphics card to a 9xxx or higher series nvidia card OR an ATI radeon 36xx or higher series card and u will have no issues running eve
u can buy a reasonable one for less than $100 these days SIG: if my message has spelling errors its cos i fail at typing properly :P |

All cards in each generation have the same support levels. No company purposfully designs a gneration where half way through it it suddenly supports a new shader model. That makes driver design much more complex. Only low level integrated laptop chips can lack support but they are generally proprietry chip supplied by the motherboard company and therefore driver supported by the motherboard company.
Unfortunately with ATI's legacy of the X1000 series it has caused some compatiblity issues with drivers for the X1000 series and Win7 / Vista.
How do I know the X1300 runs EVE? I own one on a old XP machine and know that on XP it runs reasonably on low resolutions for EVE and on Win7 can have driver issues. ------------------------------------- The system issues man. |

Fortunately, you only need SM2 support to run EVE, so both cards will work. ùùù ôIf you're not willing to fight for what you have in ≡v≡à you don't deserve it, and you will lose it.ö ù Karath Piki |
