Im fairly new to the game and so far i have just been steadily building up some ISK doing level 1 missions for Caldari Navy. But i have noticed my Gallente standing has gone down a fair bit which is something i wasn't expecting. I learnt that if it gets low enough i would have trouble flying through Gallente space which is something i don't want to happen.
I chose Caldari Navy since i am Caldari and they offer many security missions, but is there some other place i could do missions and not affect the main faction standings negatively? Do i have to mission for Gallente in order to keep it above the level where they will shoot me for flying in their space? Thanks in advance for any help you can provide

Gaining good standing with one faction will automatically lower your faction standing with their enemies. It isn't that bad though, and you should never be dissallowed from gallente space because of this.
However, there are missions that have you fight against gallente ships. This will drastically lower you gallente standing, especially with higher level missions. Its best to simply decline any mission that has you fight against gallente, amarr, minmatar, or caldari if you don't want to be kill on site in there systems.

Running Missions for one faction does not automatically lower your standings to the others.
You will loose standings by shooting at ships and structures belonging to the other factions, so its very possible you have taken missions that involved you shooting the Gallente.
You can recover the standings by running missions for the faction, but until you are above a standing of -2.00 you will be restricted to level 1 Quality 0 agents.

actually run storyline will "automatically" decrease your standings with unfriendly faction (same as raise with friendly faction). Will not go below -5 unless you actually do mission vs enemy faction though.
My advice just decline all mission vs Gallente.

it's only faction police that will come after you if your faction standing drops below -5, and we all know all faction police do it make you warp faster ;p they forgor their scramblers.
but don't afk in their space or it's certain death. w2g is the way to move in those systems... but who ever goes to gallente space -.- ----------------------------------- woot, free zephyr, ccp won me back. |

Ive got something like 9.5 Amarr faction standing (R&D agents give "errand" type missions, but count toward storylines), and my Minmatar standing went to -5.26. Trained diplomacy to 4 and now it's -2.8, well under the -5.0 that would cause me grief in Minnie space.
At a certain point I realized that I didn't have much interest in Gallente or Minmatar corporations, and no reason to run missions for them. I can fly in their space so that is sufficient.
If you train diplomacy the odds of you wrecking your Gallente/Minmatar standing to below -5.0 are slim. You'll be well sick of running missions for Caldari corps well before that, and move onto other parts of the game.

Edit: Regarding thread title, Caldari space has most agents.......way more!
Sorry to disagree, but I recently asked about why I am only on L2 Q-16 agents and have -3.xx standing with Gal/Min and only a 0.33 (at time of post) positive with Amarr.
The reason is I ran too many 'regular' missions that had Faction Navy ships in them. These are where the dog tags are dropped for loot.
So, some regular missions can affect faction standing in a significant enough way, but, for the most part, it's storyline missions that are the faction point killers.
