So we Dutch and Brittish are being ****ed over by the president of Iceland, he isnt willing tp pay his debts for Icesave.
Expect our Marine to conquer you pitty little country, i want personally a share of CCP. I lost 10k euro cuz of Icesave.
HAHA, does Iceland even has an Army??

Blah, Dutch government has turned into a bunch of pantsies last few years 
They will bend over and take it up the tailpipe i'm sure...
They might go to the UN or something which will mean the whole ordeal will take years and year and will turn into a sub par deal where Iceland will have to pay a token sum each year.
I don't blame the Icelandics one bit, blame the greedy banks and the politicians that looked the other way.

You probably shouldn't have deposited money to a foreign account. Why keep an account with an Icelandic bank? You probably wanted to evade taxes. There you go.
Also, I'm not sure how regulations are set in the Nederlands, but governments usually guarantee the payout of savings, to a certain amount, to their own residents. E.g., to avoid a civil war.
Seriously, stay away from offshore solutions. They are meant to be used by real players.

Why people thought investing in a country which has a tiny population and few natural resources was a sensible idea I do not know. However the icelandish people and thier government has profited from the banking system and just as the uk will pay off its debts iceland must do the same.

Maybe you should have thought more carefully about investing in a country whose liabilities were 10x it's GDP?

If Icelanders vote against repayment in a referendum, the British and Dutch governments could force Iceland to go bankrupt (for real), veto any IMF help to the country, and block Iceland from getting fast tracked into the EU.
There will be consequences.

Iceland never wanted in EU in the first place. The current trend is just populist politicians capitalising on the panic surrounding the financial crash.
You deposited your money into a foreign bank with no guarantees whatsoever. If Iceland shows you the middle finger, the joke's on you.

Maybe they could do those things (Brit btw) but why would they want to hurt the Icelandic people like that? The British public wouldn't want to see Icelandic people unfairly treated because of this despite money being involved. I hope Iceland joins the EU and an amicable and fair resolution to the problem is met.
