This hole thread is ridiculous. I am a member of the german chat. The things you, as a TO, say, are in fact true. we have a lot of smacktalk in the channel. It is entertaining. and ThatŠs about it. If you take smack talk serious, it is your problem. I for one, am pretty new to the game (some 3 months). Yet the game itself can be pretty boring, even for someone like me, or maybe especially for someone like me. Not old and rich enough to life live in low sec, running missions most of the time. I just need some entertainment besides.
And in the case you dinŠt notice: there is that "hilfe" channel. someone capable of joining the "german" channel, should be able to find "hilfe", too. DonŠt you think? that channel exists for a reason. People in there, are there for a reason. and people in the german channel, are not in the help channel because... guess why... They do not want to help rookies... OMG! this is pretty groundbreaking news, ainŠt it? And as a matter of fact: I, as a starter, have never been talked to in a harsh tone. I wonder why. maybe i am accepting people as they are, and donŠt try to force my opinion of how others should be, on them.
I stated in the beginning that the accusations are true. as much as they are, german chat is more. We talk about cats, politics, friendship, problems of other gamers, as often as other things. we use the channel for what i guess it was ment to be used: Get to know other german players. We donŠt like you? to bad for you. And if someone enters, and starts being rude, we join together pretty fast and answer in kind. but if you behave... well the sky ainŠt a limit^^
Just remember: german ist not the place to ask for things or help. thats what "hilfe" is for. and that is what "hilfe" was ment to be.

What you find offensive other people (and CCP) may not. I've had people freak out because I called them a total newbie at something, and I've had people call me all sorts of colorful things and rarely has it been something worth petitioning. If they're linking **** and stuff like that, you file a petition with the name of the person like it asks. If they or someone else post **** again, be it an hour later or a day later, report them again.
Just keep in mind that if you expect channels to be clean and something children should be able to read freely, you're bound to be disappointed. Also if you right click and block someone, they're dead to you in chat channels.

All this is done by a handful of persons which seem to "own" that channel. "Normal" german players have no place to chat, which is the reason they hang out in the german helpchat and start offtopics there.
I understand that the GM cannot monitor these channels the whole day, but I think everybody should be able to use the language-chat.
Theoretically this is possible, practically not due to above reasons.
Anyone saying something gets only laughed at... well what shall we do? Already created a bunch of petitions, but I am sick of. It seems they have no effect at all. Oh yeah, a new warning was created in the channel to not use profanity.. and you think that stops it? Well... in fact, it did not change anything at all.
When do you ban those people which insult newbies and other persons and talk about profanities the whole evening?
Anyone capable of German should go there and have a "look" to see by yourself....

It generally pays to be polite. But this beginner smacking stems from self gratification attitude thats been bane of eve for long time.

Srsly, the problem with this chan most drama-llama-noobs have, is that they feel like being the first one that hit the question wtf rigslots are good for.
i'd guess 90% of other german-speaking noobs find their way to "Hilfe"-chan or do some rtfm via google, eveger, guides, etc.
The drama noobs (thread opener is actually one of them, I remeber the show that char did) are the silber platter faction of players every game has plenty of. Ask a very basic question the tutorial answered already and go into wine-mode 3,5sec later.

And so the dimmest of noobs join a chan which "inhabitants" are perma-****edoff by questions like why cant i steer my ship with WASD and so on.
Explosive mixture, prooven by this thread.
Actually we have a lot of new players, that know where to get basic information by themselves and ask the more complicated stuff in THAT notorious channel without getting trolled or flamed.
Around a third of the regulars in that chan are playing for less then a year. Cant be that bad though.
TW. props to the hilfe-chan residents, i wouldnt have the patience. :)

some peapole asking same questions that solved in tutorial!
if u hear after 6 years of eve day for day same questions u will be not happy.! if no one answer thy call u for not helping bad and etc
so just USE hilfe channel! its easy

QUESTION
Why is ist impossible to "invite" a new player into the help or hilfe channel? for free at best. this would reduce "birth"traumatas for "newborn" players...
easy solution. who else likes it easy?

As much as I believe we should all wear tweed suits, all be gentlemen and speak as if it's polite society.
The world is not like that and it won't change for a long time.
If you're on the internet and can't handle profanity then I'd suggest a big tablespoon of cement and harden up because this is the internet not Hello Kitty land were everything is hunky dory.
Petitioning/reporting everyone who says even the slightest profanity because it 'offends' someone will just overload the GMs' workload as they probably get enough reports and petitions as it is.
TL;DR: Harden up this is the internet, and GMs have enough work as it is.
