Hopefully nobody mentioned this, I couldn't find it in common questions...
Anyway, just knocked my mining partner out of her spot for the umpteenth time because I misjudged what EVE's interpretation of 500 meters actually is. Can't the collision detection be a Little bit less paranoid? As is, manoeuvring is a real sod in a close environment, or when you have to remain close to someone for cargo transfer or the like.

Those 500m only matter with small ~ medium ships. Large ones bump smallers and that's all.
Why do ships travel throught stations / outposts / POS / planets / moons / etc.. and they can not go through other ships? That's 50% realism.
An easy example: go SiSi and approach a Megathron with a Dominix. You can place half a your Domi inside Megathron's hull, that's -200m proximity and they don't move so.. Hell yeah! EVE needs a proximity system revamping / degrading.

I've gotten stuck on warp gates a number of times, despite being well beyond their graphic. Same goes for areas of dense clutter in some missions (ruined stations mostly). And yet I regularly warp through planets and can pass through standard stations.
I support updating the collision engine.

Well apart from the fact you can pass through anything when warping (Can be explained via RP as well) the collision detection does need updated.
I am fed up of trying to high speed manoeuvre around asteroids or other ships and hitting them fairly solidly when I'm twice the distance from the object as it's size. This is particularity true of asteroids in belts. I think this may be a case of really badly setup collision boxes on a lot of objects rather than a problem with the code itself. If this is the case it should be a fairly simple fix comparatively, some poor bugger at CCP just needs to go through all the objects in the code and view em and if needed correct the boxes. -The sword is only as sharp as the one who wields it.
