So here at Hulkageddon we're sure that all of you intrepid miners have been seeing the impending HULKAGEDDON and have been wondering to yourself "How am I going to stay alive?" Fear not, we have come up with an insurance system to prevent you from losing your ships.
All you need to do is send 5 million isk to this character, Hulkageddon Insurance, with INSURANCE as the reason. Your name will be added to a public list in this post, and any ship loss, backed up by a genuine killmail, will be completely reimbursed by myself. In addition, anyone who kills someone on the Hulkageddon Insurance list will not be eligible to receive any prizes, no matter how many other miners they may have killed.
This is the only official, legitimate insurance available. All other insurances are un-affiliated with Hulkageddon, and they can not be guaranteed to keep you safe.
Stay in the game! For just the tiny one-time price of 5 million isk, you can forget having to lose any time mining, as you'll get your ship reimbursed within just a few short hours.
As a bonus, your insurance lasts not only for the duration of the Hulkageddon contest, but until downtime on the 1st of February, giving you protection for the entire month.
Spend just 5 million isk to keep your 175 million investment safe and sound for more than the duration of Hulkageddon. You'll more than make up the tiny payment with the mining you can do without being docked up for a week, and with no risk of losing your ship.

Okay maybe it would. In fact it probably would. Very likely in fact. Not sure why I even wandered in here. Could have sworn I saw a free food sign with an arrow pointing here. Guess that could be a sign it was a scam also.

It looks like the OP is associated with the same people planning this HULKAGEDDON.
Problem: People are going to blow up your ships.
Solution: Pay the OP for Hulk insurance.
Given the amount of vulnerable (edit: and gullible) people in this game, this could amount to the biggest scam in Eve Online history!

I am, in fact, associated with Hulkageddon, which is how I can offer this service. If I wasn't associated with Hulkageddon then I would have no power to make sure that people can't receive prizes for killing people who have purchased insurance.

Yes theoretically I could be scamming. But why would I? I guarantee there will be a Hulkageddon III next year, and I would much rather stay in business. I'll make far more money staying in business for several years than I ever would by simply doing this once as a scam.

It just like those Godfather movies I never watched.
Eve is the only game i can think of right now where stealing, scamming, bullying, extorting people is all a part of the socio-economic foundations of the game. Eve is unique because there is real loss in the game, and people pay top dollar to prevent loss.
I'm not ripping the OP or this HULKAGEDDON. I am but an admirer of of the Internet itself.

Those two posts you refer to are scam posts. Hulkageddon decided, after seeing these scammers, to put together an official insurance. We don't want to see people losing their ships thinking they have insurance, but then getting screwed over by scammers. This official insurance is guaranteed to work and is the only legit way to protect your ships.

Yeah I know it's a protection racket run by the same people organising Hulkageddon II, but the important thing is it actually works. I did lose a hulk, and even before I could find the killmail it had already been posted on the H-2 website and my ISK was refunded. In-belt today I got a PM as well, cloaked guy had been approaching me then found my name on his copy of the H-2 Insured List and PM'ed me to wish me luck before warping off to find someone uninsured.
Why take the risk, I say? Five million is a small price to pay for peace of mind.
I am also very happy to act as an intemediary for you, so you can send the ISK directly to my account if you choose. Please makre your mail as before "INSURANCE".

Actually i don't, but even if i had, i would not send it to these people!
I do hope this won't come back to bite them in the hiney though... i mean, if enough noobs whine that they lost their ship, ccp might eventually give in and make hi sec entirely safe... I mean they allready seriously increased the security and concord response times...
Personally i think suicide ganking is getting a bit out of control and will only harm the game in the end.

And ccp seriously don't do something to fix how broken insurance is. Organisations and special events dedicated to suicide ganking cause it's just so god damn easy. Now you can pve and pvp in empire with no risk easily and proffitably (someone wanna compare pirating profit in low sec vs suicide profit in empire?). what next planetery interaction brings in sov owning in empire so we can do everything risk free in empire.
