I have not played this game a lot, theres still a lot of things I donÆt know about it. One such thing was Wormhole travel. I have not heard about it before a friend of mine asked me ôhave you tried exploring?ö and there I go, I found out about these 0.0 systems hidden outside the normal world I have been in so far. Well there I go, Zephyr had a scanner, I just had to get the skill. Well that didnÆt take too long.
Now what? There was a good video in YouTube that learned scanning basics and ther e, I was ready to scan! First I just found some Serpentis bases and after a while my first Wormhole. I jumped thru and found a gas field, ôWow, this is awesome.ö I came back and asked my friend if he has gas mining abilities. We were going to go thru that Wormhole after downtime, but after downtime the Wormhole had closed. Without much thought I made my conclusion, ôWormholes close and open at downtime! So they are open 24 hours!ö This was my first mistake.
After a while I found the next Wormhole and jumped through, inside I found some drone bases and an asteroid field filled with every ore I could think of from Veldspar to Arkonor. I came back home and fitted my Osprey for mining. Went back in to mine but only few minutes passed until I got attacked by sleeper drones. I made my way back home and used my Drake to wipe the drones away. Now I was free to mine! Osprey back in and mining, using the jetcan as a container I mined until I had enough Bistot to fill my Badger Mark II and then took my ores back home. All was good, and I got a lot of Zydrine from the ore. Next up was Crokite and Arkonor.
I mined about 10 000 cubic meters and then again made my way to the Wormhole. But, the Wormhole was closed! Then it struck me, I have no scanner in my miner! How do I get back home? I tried local, no answer, I tried to find a corporation that would know where I am, but there was no answer. After a while of chatting in my corporation I was quite desperate. I took my miner to see what the drones were guarding, ôMeaby they have a Wormholeö I thought. But once I warped near to their base, I was almost instantly hit by a drone attack, and before I managed to warp out, my ship exploded.
So there I was, in my Pod in Sleeper drone system, without a probe launcher or a sophististicated scanner systems. Lost in Space. Local did not answer. ôWhy didnÆt I fit probe launchers into my ships?ö Was the thought in my head. I couldnÆt suicide because my clone was not up to date. I transferred some money to my alt and switched to my alt, remapped his neural skills to intelligence and memory, learned science level 3 and Astrometrics level 3 then bought a Zephyr and started scanning, but figured out its impossible to find me like that. Switched back to my main character and sat for a while asking for anyone in local. After that I found out about the directional scanner, it shows you whats in there, in space. Found out there was some secure containers by a few different characters. After some planet hopping and scanning I found the canisters next to a moon but no one was there. I sent the owners of the secure containers a mail if they could help me, but only one of them answered, and he had no idea how to get back there.
So I was there thinking to myself what to do, and suddenly I found out a Scanner Probe was in my directional scanner screen! After a few seconds there were 4 scanners probing the system, and then I found there is an Explorer somewhere! I spammed local with my begging and then there was an answer, ôhiö I was saved, he was an explorer who had come in to my system from another Sleeper system, trying to find a way home, and after a while he found a Wormhole back home! I formed a fleet with him and warped next to the Wormhole! I jumped thru the Wormhole! I was 15 jumps from home, I was in 0.2 low sec, but got an Ibis and then made my way back home picking up a few probe launchers on the way.
