Hi all,
Anyone know of something like Halada's Mining Guide for PVP? I looked on the wiki but I could barely read the PVP Tactics Page. Googling it turned up a couple of one-page summaries but nothing really in-depth.

Shoot stuff -> Die Shoot stuff -> Die Shoot stuff -> Die Shoot stuff -> KILL! Shoot stuff -> Die
etc Please pardon the prissy overtones that will be found throughout this letter, but the reservoir from which CCP draws its lickspittles is primarily the masses of revolting enemies of the people. Let me |

Follow the link. I posted sort of a summary with links to some very relevant content including Wenley's Rifter Guide, Skira Ranos' Beginner's Guide to Piracy (considered as almost compulsory reading for Eve PVPers), Garmon's Taranis Guide and others.

The problem is that there's no one single situation in PVP, with the mining guide you have asteroids and ships and that's about it. Even though those pirate guides (linked above) aren't bad they're not great either, it's just that as there's no other available it's the "best" you can get.
It all depends on what type of pvp you're looking for and what your (corp) playstyle is. There are some basics ofcourse but they're not exactly covered inthose guides, not really.

Assume I'm attempting to take a bushel basket of raw noob miners (like, 'what is a skill' noob) that a friend of mine recruited for a related corp, and I'm trying to do him a favor by turning them into a leet lowsec biker gang. Starting with basics like "This is a tackler, its job is to webify and scramble stuff. You need the frigate skill to fly it and Propulsion Jamming to use the modules..." and hopefully working up to gang combat if they're interested. Between mining ops, that is.

If you want to retain your corp's identity then pay a merc corp for pvp training.
Otherwise join Eve University (e-uni). They're pretty good at that. E-Uni's rabid noob tacklefrigate swarms are the stuff of legend.

dire, there is no definitive guide to pvp. there are so many different ways to kill or get killed than none of us could spare the time to detail all those that we have personally experienced.
the one and only true guide to pvp is a group of loyal friends that you fly with every day and work with together to achieve the seemingly impossible. in other words a good pvp corp is your best bet. my corp can and will teach you the basics and then take you out regularly to get blown up or to blow up others. other corps out there will as well. some are good, some are great, some... well you get the idea.
make some friends and learn pvp together. and above all have fun doing it _________________________________________________ Aurora Security is recruiting our wiki page |

Edited by: Liz Laser on 08/01/2010 20:41:01 Liz Laser's comprehensive PvP guide:
1) Join an experienced PvP corp
2) Install voice software and connect headphones and mic.
3) Register for forums.
4) Read forums and adopt corp overview settings.
5) Read forums and find a scheduled op.
6)Bring whatever type ship is requested and follow instructions.
7) Ignore FC's instructions once and find yourself primaried by the enemy.
8) Faultlessly follow instructions from then on.
That's it.
It worked for a spud like me, your mileage may vary.

there are many pvp corporations out there dire i recomend taking your friends and join one, you should have enough experiance in a few months to know what to do and expect. Remember each setup will have a new result against a new target ive seen cruisers kill battleships ive seen frigate swarms kill carriers . the reason you cant find a good pvp guide is because its unlimited knowledge and no one has the experiance or time to write it all down , let alone anyone have the time to read it and understand it. you have the right idea though to work in a team is a good start comunication is vital as is having ships that can do appointed tasks (webing scraming jaming dps etc) there are so many ways to fit ships and so many ways to use game mechanics to your advantage the only way to find out is to do and see, its honestly the best and fastest way to become a good pvper. if you have a new account and are short of isk , then i recomend joining a all-round corporation , as you will have to foot your pvp bill somehow since losses will be inevitable. good luck and enjoy eve
