No, I don't have a macro that fly a Tempest :-)
It was obvious before who some of the macro Hulks were but it's blatantly obvious now, and fun to kill them too. I think we need to keep tabs on these guys and single them out for some special attention well after the event is ended. C/D?
(Edit: A quick check of the darker side of the internet with Google shows that some of the macroers are actually concerned about this).
(Edit: The real miners of course know who the macros in their belts are from seeing them everyday, but chances are the -10 crowd won't have as much info about this as they've got better things to do than come to high sec and search belts all day. Now, however, -10s are getting firm and positive info about who the macros are...)

Confirming that SmallIce is a macro.
I'm a miner/industrialist, and I've been keeping tabs on him for a few weeks in Piekura (Lonetrek). His modus operandi is to fly to a belt, mine a couple of cycles, warp to station, unload and so on. He visits a number of belt bookmarks in the system in a pseudorandom order.
Evidence for macroing? Each time he had his Hulk popped yesterday he was seen sitting in belt and/or warping to and from station in his pod for up to a couple of hours after the gank.
TBH, people like him are one of the reasons that I'm supporting Hulkageddon so enthusiastically. Clearing these cheating morons out is a public good that I can only endorse. Keep up the good work, gankers!
I also hope that "casual" macrominers (i.e. not those doing it for RMT purposes) learn their lesson and stop macroing. I'd feel bad about singling someone out for "special attention" after Hulkageddon if they had actually stopped AFK mining. -- "The only stupid question is the one you don't ask." |

Edited by: Herr Wilkus on 08/01/2010 12:22:43 I often see some Hulks focusing all three miners on a single asteroid. I know enough about mining that it heavily suggests a macro. Most intelligent miners will have each strip miner on a different roid, to avoid wasting cycle time.
When I pop these 'focussed' miners - their pod pilots will usually just float there for ages - or start randomly cycling between asteroid fields, like clockwork. Guessing that their programming is thrown off when the hulk dies, so all steps (turn on lazors, fly to base, empty cargo, etc) end up failing except 'fly to belt X, fly to belt Y, fly to belt Z''

You know, I used to actually care about my cycle time. I generally don't anymore. I realized monitoring my cycles made this too much like a job, and it's supposed to be a game. I already have one job, I don't need a second one, especially one that I have to pay for the privilege of coming to work.
And I will often focus two or even all three of my lasers on one rock if it is A) particularly large or B) particularly valuable (especially if I am am mining ABC in a WH).
So tell me again which part of that indicates macroing? --Vel

Oh yeah? Well how do you know that's not just his play style? What if he's doing that because he's autistic, you insensitive clod? Ever think of that. Or maybe you get your jollies from picking on the disabled. Oooh, big man, picking on a poor mentally handicapped kid. You disgust me. I hope a large number of horrible things happen to you and people you love, as actions in a PC game definitely merit that kind of karma.
Furthermore you are obviously racist, so I have reported you. Poor foreign people who can somehow own a PC and play computer games all day are morally entitled to cheat. Enjoy your ban, you rich western pig.

I for one condone crappy macro systems. especialy when they spend a whole evening jettisoning half full cans or ore into the belts. Dumb ass macros.

I focus all my beams on one asteroid at a time, I always have. Gets rid of them faster. Better to clear an asteroid in 1-2 cycles than 3 times as many than is needed.
I keep track of how much ore I get per cycle with 3 strips on one asteroid, eg 50,000 units of Veldspar per cycle...then on the last cycle, cut the strips off at the point which depletes the asteroid...instead of wasting potentially a whole cycle.
EVE, the thinking person's game...lol.
