Just starting my pirate alt, was wondering what ships are fun to pirate in? I was thinking of doing some low sec hunting. I would assume Battle-cruisers are most used? are T2 frigs good?
At least battle cruisers are the most common thing that's caught my main off guard...

Stick with t1 frigs and cruisers if you're just starting out. They're a ton of fun and cost next to nothing.

Generally anything with guns is good fun.. Missiles will do at a pinch.
Anything smaller than a BS and you'll start to have issues with gate/station guns.. Its not less fun, it just means you have to pick your fights and not engage anywhere near the guns.. You should be picking your fights anyway, so this shouldn't be an issue..
Also, no one expects an Ares to kill them..

join RvB till u learn to pvp. is a load of fun. once u learn then u can move up to a BC etc etc. and then BS. but be sure u have a account u can make money cuz u will die. u will die.

I dunno about the whole "frigates first" mindset. Insurance probably makes battlecruisers the cheaper option once you can, you know, afford to fit one out.
Course, losing frigates does way less d0mage to your KB stats.

It's about learning to actually fly a ship in pvp. If you can survive & kill well in a frig (i.e. knowing when/how to use ab/mwd/pulse reps/kill drones/dictate different ranges vs different targets/directional scanner to see if there's support coming) then you're way better set up to pirate. It's all about awareness, having 5 people in an RR gang who don't need someone holding their hands is way better than a 15 man gang who need to be baby walked the whole way.
The bigger your ship is the most likely you're going to be just target - point - apply damage&drones - approach brainlessly. Frigs require alot more awareness to survive (as stated above), they also allow you to locate + engage targets much faster than in a BC.
Personally my favorite ships to fly are frigs (recently got the skills to fly a rifter and it really is a blast), though I tend to get pulled into a BS to run RR gangs since we're usually fighting substancially higher numbers than we have and they won't aggress anywhere but on a gate (where we're forced to take gcc unless we want to just sit watch gang mates die).
Way too much info & reason to cram in a quickly written post, especially since my food's ready, but that's my 2 cents :P

Hop in anything cheap with guns. I like the rupture or a rax.

Depends entirely on how you play. I love sitting on a gate in my hic waiting for somebody to pop through. Followed typically by waiting on them as they sit cloaked trying to come to terms with what's about to happen. And then the inevitable uncloaking of them and my fleet. Shortly followed, hopefully, by the ransoming of their pod.

Frigates and Cruisers for sure. That's why our outfit only flies in Frigate/Cruiser squads. It's the only way to go in order to have speed, DPS, and annoying ass tactics that throw off your targets organization.

High sec ofc you would be using a battle industrial :P

Also, the guy who said you need moar laser upgrades for better yield! completely missing the point of the fit.

Thanks but it will probably be at least a month before I actually pirate, grabbing all the learning skills up front so its better in the long run.
Yah I figured Frigs would be fun, I always like a good frig 1v1 on my main. I also like BC's a lot, and with insurance the price drops a lot. My main makes more then enough money to cover my losses so that's not a problem.
