Just wondering, does anyone else have big problems with loading the new planet gfx?
Because I'll have 10-20 seconds of lag every time I undock, change systems, or warp more than 50 AU's because of the planet graphics loading. And it's really annoying.

Wow, 10-20 seconds, do you know how many instructions a modern PC can do in that time? It is more than a few dozen. I wonder what is taking all the time.

Very, very probably you're using an older graphics card, something with less than 256 mb vram, or you have less than 1.5g 'regular' ram. An upgrade will help.
If you do have a proper system (3 years old or newer) you should think about defragmenting, reinstalling or just taking a look at what kind of stuff you got installed.

I actually haven't noticed a problem with this, and I run an older system. 256MB video card and 2Gig RAM, but it's a 6 year old machine. I also tend to run VMWare in the background using up half my available memory, so I don't actually have as much memory available as my machine specs state.
The only problem I've seen with planets loading or not loading correctly is with the textures. Every once in a while a quarter of the planet won't load the texture correctly (if at all), but otherwise it hasn't impacted actual gameplay. When that happens, if I reboot the client, the problem seems to be solved.

Defragging really shouldn't help. Modern OS on modern hardware don't cause fragmentation in the same way systems did a decade ago, and when they do it's much less of a problem.
Your problem would appear to be texture loading, more system or video memory is probably the only real fix for the problem, depending on the age of your system. Frankly though I have not experienced your symptoms running EVE on any machine (EVE's pretty good for system requirements).
Do the obvious little things first (drivers etc) but consider that you may need to upgrade some hardware.

It could simply be the speed of your graphics card. What gfx card do you have? ----

On a slow disk with the standard 4kb cluster size it might help quite a bit :)
