When I want to start a new manufactoring job at an NPC station I can do that from 40+ jumps away with the right skills.
If I want to start one in one of my own POS'es, I have to be within 3000m.
And that is why?

I did not know that. It makes no mind bogling cents. I admite I'm a carebear highsec pilot. But I can run my blue print stuff with out being 3000m from my pos with the same kind of blueprint skills. Is it a rock? Point a Lazer at it and profit. Is it a ship? Point a Lazer at it and profit. I dont realy see any differnces here. |

Probably because you have your blueprint at the POS. You can leave it in an office in the same system. Then you can start your jobs remotely as usual.

The question is... why do I have to have my BP in the station in the same system when I can remotely start/complete jobs from the other side of the region?
Scientific range skill should enable the use of a BP skill+systems away, honestly.

I, for myself am very glad, that I can leave my prints in a station office and not at my POS. So nobody can shoot it out :-)

Surely one could figure out how to transmit a blueprint!

If it was easy to collate and digitise the information why does it take so long to make a copy?

An NPC station has people living in it that you send the Job request to and they push the 'GO' button on the manufactoring machine.
Your POS is just a bunch of structures in space so you have to fly there to push the 'GO' button.

I don't know about you, but I can start a job at my POS from anywhere in the region, providing the BP is in a station in that system. The same applies to any other station, but in that case the BP doesn't just have to be in the same system it has to be in the same station as well. So your own POS is more flexible.

There are a dozen RP reasons, but the simple fact of the matter is that for gameplay reasons it was correctly decided that you shouldn't be able to do 0 risk BP research in far flung lowsec stations from highsec. It was a major concesssion to allow the BPs to be kept in a station when using a POS rather than have to be in the facility you are using like everything else in game has to be.

That ends the thread, I guess.
