So if I want to solo kill a hauler in hi-sec what's the best ship? Torp Raven? Could this be done with a bc?

Thanks for the replies guys.
I guess I'm thinking Iteron 5 in terms of targets . Would a brutix still work for that?
This is all about alpha right? I'm assuming concord will kill me within a second or two.

Fit it out with 7 heavy missile launchers, BCU's on the lows, and standard point / web / soak tank on the med. Throw in 4-5 charges of faction ammo and enjoy the blue indy pops. Better get out to null sec or run some missions soon after to fix your sec. Concord is very vindictive and remembers those who break the laws.
*EDIT* Don't forget to insure it! I mean... in case you get attacked... by pirates... I would never condone Insurance fraud... *The Epic Fail*

Wow, guess I need to check out EFT. The suggestion of a Tempest was a surprise - due to the recent changes I suppose. BC's definitely worth a look also. Time for a few experiments

i did it in a torp raven once. got a bestower in a 1.0 in 2 volleys, although that was before the last concord buff, then again with how bad my missile skills are that could be about the same as 1 good volley.
I got a 1k+ dps t1 fit domi fit. see a lot of people doing it in brutxs. tempest looks nice with its 10k alpha

Tempest does look good although I'm getting nowhere near that volley figure - is that a T2 fit or just great skills?
I was planning to use another alt for this but that's not really viable if it takes too much time out of my main

From a professional ganker i can confirm arty pest to be the best thing going in the world of ganking (if you dont believe me sort the Brick Squad kb for industrial kills :).
Full rack of arties
sensor booster, target painter, disruptor.
full t2 rack of weapon mods... with decent skills you can EASILY get 5k alpha minimum

this is very important! you don't want to be in a situation of not being able to kill an un-tanked hauler with your Tempest-o-doom simply because it was afk flying towards the gate, and you started firing at it when it was 5km away, so your mighty artillery simply could not track it - imagine how much you'd laugh at yourself and how much the ninja looters who were sitting on the same gate will laugh at you for being a silly arse for doing this

There are alot of things that factor into ganking in high sec.
1 What the ship you plan on ganking is and how its set up (the main thing)
2. How much you can afford to lose to concord.
3. Where you are going to be ganking at also determines Concords time of arrival.
4.And the amount of Dps or Alpha to take down that ship before concord gets you.
You can gank in a cruiser. This is good enough for anyone that has cargo expanders and cargo rigs in their indy ship. I have done this my self and if does work. Sometimes your target gets away though. Only recommended in 0.5 systems
You can gank in a Bc. This is a great ship for all around ganking. You can get enough dps from this to take out almost any indy ship. No matter how its fitted of course this also depends on the location. Because sometimes you need that second volley.
You can gank in a Bs. My personal Favorite for the simple reason it will pop any indy ship. The 12,000 volley you can get from a maelstrom is nasty ,so you dont have to worry bout what sec your in. Its insta death with the push of a button.

Well I've created a new character and am training it specifically for a Tempest gank setup. A few weeks and I should be ready to give this a go
This has got to pay its way though. It's about making ISK not the km's. I'm aiming to do this with a T1 fit which should be ok if I'm selective with targets.
I've come across some impressive looking kills while doing the research for this - time to get some myself...

You need a Tempest, 1400 Arty, no angular velocity, and patience.
Helps to have someone to scoop the loot, but if you only want to kill them and laff, you can do it solo.

I dont understand why CCP wants there to be nothing but stupid suicide bombers in this game.
Its like promoting terrorists.
Piracy in lowsec requires guts and smarts.
Hi-sec suicide bombers only are there for griefing purposes and should not be allowed in the game.
Seriously we need to do something that gets CCP's attention.

This isn't griefing, nor is it scamming, it's a legitimate use of the game mechanics. As I said in my previous post just above yours this is an ISK making exercise. I'm not talking for others, just myself.
Fact is I find most of the normal ways of making ISK - missions, trading etc boring so how else am I meant to make ISK? Buy it? I've never done that and I don't want to. Every ISK I've ever spent I've got by playing the game and I don't want to change that.
This tactic only works because people put poorly protected ships on autopilot while carrying valuable cargo. They get what they deserve. This isn't WOW.

oh coarse it's griefing, there is no other reason to even want to do it.They brag bout how they insure ships against loss, an how "stupid" higher's are. I swear if CCP grow some balls an remove insurance its gonna be a great day for the game. :)

Suicide ganking for profit will still be viable without insurance, just need to gank slightly more valuable targets.

You need to have a brain, and the common sense to use it.
I'll give u an example:
I was coming back from Jita with a load of Fernite Carbide. Nothing too valuable, maybe 40-50 mils worth.
A few jumps out, I get a phone call, which delays me from jumping to the next stargate over by about a minute. Some frigate locks onto me and undoubtedly scanned my cargo.
I warp over, jump out, and some newbie Geddon wannabee pirate locks on to me, and takes out my shields of my hauler.
10 more seconds later, and said Geddon is toast courtesy of Concord, while I'm laughing hysterically.
Lesson: Make sure you don't confuse fernite carbide with fernite carbide composite armor plates, which are more expensive. Poor bastard thought I was carrying a Mammoth full of that, and he thought that I wasn't fitting shield extenders.
