For your purposes though you probably want to go with the ganking armageddon set-up listed above. Or if you want to be a bit more subtle a Deimos will suit all your heavy damage needs and is suitable for making all Turret huggers cry. As long as you get rid of those pesky drones.

But the truth is that minmatar ships just suck right now... so go for a thorax, and then a deimos, and you should be a happy camper

Their layouts encourage medium defense and high offense in nearly every ship. As a new player, perhaps a list of ships to work through would be: Incursus Thorax Taranis Brutix Enyo Building your own personal skills as well as your ingame skill trees through that progression. Edit: I didn't put in the Heavy Assault Ships(Deimos, Ishtar) or the Megathron because that represents a very significant amount of training time. For a new player, this progression will get you into the fun of PvP quickly and cheaply. Good times will always be remembered. Sleep well, old friends.
