The whole point about requiring more ships to kill you is that more ships means more people need to be willing to loose the sec status/coordinate the gank. If it really is a 1m profit to loose a smartbombing battleship, then why don't we see every single freighter that undocks get suicided? The reason is that it takes a lot of people to do it, and only 1 person has to screw up the timing to mess up the gank for everyone else. It's much harder to find and organize 30 people than it is to find and organize 3 people.
Here's a good example of a gank failing due to a combination of tank, and stupidity on the part of my corpmate (he MWDed right into me): http://www.xfire.com/video/1f5cfc/

Don't use smartbombing BS's, a high DPS turret boat can take one out solo cus you can do +1500 DPS with a mega. No matter how much tank they put onto it, its going to be pretty much toast in 2 savos. 5000+ Alpha.

Edited by: Zill on 22/01/2010 21:39:53 Sadly Keida while I agree with you on your points, the gankers don't, an wont.... they wont want the status quo to be changed an they spam threaten make fun on an generally deride anyone that says the system is broken. Because they believe they don't deserve to have expense. They also don't will fight tooth an nail to keep what they have (free kills)
they know u cant protect against a gank, but they also dont care one iota. You realize the more they get people to buy into the fact they can survive ANY gank attempt, the more money they make off you.
More kills = more mods that survive the bang. It's a con job. Just do your thing like any other time an **** them.I am of the mind though that CCP doesn't give a **** either since no masses of miners are quitting the game nor are they stopping mining. And probably wont. I have heard of 3 people who quit because of the ganking, but they had only started the day they were killed in 0.9. So I doubt CCP will take any notice of this ****.

I think I'm the only one that can speak with authority on WHY Hulkageddon exists.
Here, in no particular order, are all of the reasons I summed up for myself before I started gathering prizes etc and posting for HAGII on the forums:
1) I find it amusing to provoke people 2) Organizing stuff is fun! 3) Insurance system is severely ******ed, let's demonstrate 4) 90% of the miners are ******ed, AFK or macros, let's demonstrate 5) Mineral from miners not being the vast majority is stupid, let's demonstrate 6) I wonder how many i can pop with only my words 7) Lots of people are going to get to have some fun on the dark side and a good laugh. 8) people have a false sense of entitlement about their safety, they need to be responsible for it themselves
1) So I take it your going to sign onto that guy's Missiongeddon and Evegeddon? I mean, if you want to provoke people, how much better than to provoke absolutely everyone.
2) It can be.
3) Too bad most of the Hulkageddon pilots threaten to cry their a$$e$ off if you even suggest changing it. (personally I'd like to see all insurance removed)
4) You can't survive no matter what you do, even if you're not AFK, unless you jump back to station every single time local changes. You couldn't count on them being -sec status after all. I moved systems 9 times in one night, but that's because I'm a paranoid person.
5) Yeah, punish the people that you're claiming to help. On this point Missiongeddon would have made more sense.
6) Only the weak, like you, suffer from that (snicker). I learned a long time ago that I had a gift, and I use it in-game to this day. I can make anyone so angry they will pop me, even with a sec status penalty. You can't believe how easy it is.
7) Yeah, it's a great laugh, and while we're all laughing let's add another thing to laugh about. How about Concorde start pod-killing suicide gankers (aw heck, everyone that "breaks the law" in high-sec) for giggles and grins. What? You don't think that's funny. I bet a great many miners would find that funny as heck. I'd find it funny as heck to see miners yell "CONCORDE!" in local, and aother canflipper get's concordokken. (please tell me you recognize the oblique reference)
8) The problem being, of course, there is no safety if the other party is willing to get 3-5 (or more!) ships destroyed to get one ship. My only problem with this is that there is no downside for the ganker. I don't even buy the ganker that said this cost him a cool million (pocket change) per gank attempt. I have dozens of SB's just sitting in a hangar bay at any time waiting for a use or eventual reprocessing.
Having played a pk in many other games, I find it funny (but utterly predictable) that the people that extol consequences here (gankers) cry the loudest about any mention of them being imposed upon them. --- Dulce et decorum, est pro patria mori! |

You confused me Mullins hehe I couldn't work out if you were for the griefers or against their BS. But once I read it 4 times, I agree with msot of what you say.It is the gankers who are the biggest minority an the loudest complainers, because they see their "fun" eroded when the company fix the bugs/issues/exploits etc.

Blah blah blah. We had a good time, we CLEARLY highlighted the stupidity that is the insurance system (nerf please), we showed how many of the miners were macros (lots, and LOTS of them. Hint CCP, make mining not suck for real human players please) . And as an added bonus we got publicity from a few MMO websites generating interest in EVE.
I've received several comments of people who resubbed because of this, or who are now trying EVE because it's scary dangerous like that.
People who are still getting their panties in a knot WEEKS after the event need a headcheck, I personally feel fine with how it went, received more positive feedback than a few numbskulls on the EVE-O forum generated in whining, and generally had a whopping good time.
You can scream all you like, whinge all you want, call me names, call me weak, I honestly don't care; more people likes hulkageddon than disliked it, and more people like me than they like you. neener neener etc.
Get a life, honestly

What about this:
"Cloaky" Things
Sounds like an interesting idea. Would allow people to set traps for gankers.
Short list:
New Module, like a cloak but instead lets you look like a mining barge or exhumer "mining" (and frigate?)
Same kind of penalty, lock on delay
Same kind of ships can use them (including CovOps for no lock on delay)
Size limitations (can't us a on a carrier, et al)
New skill to go with module

heeh would be a funny idea, little impractical, but funny non the less.Thing I've found in MMO's over the years, Company's generally always listen to the "pvp elite" before anyone els. They are extremely loud an demanding as a rule. It's kind of like dragging your child to supermarket an they see a Bob the Builder chockie on shelf.... They instantly set up a campaign of "drive parent mad till I get it"...
You cant even get angry at them, they cant help it.

1) I said I want all insurance removed, you apparently missed that.
2) Ok, don't sprain a muscle patting yourself on the back.
3) I love it when "scary dangerous" or somesuch bull-puckey is brought up. Eve is less scary than an old-timey game like UO because you think Eve has no safety? You got nothin' kid. PK lost skills/stats every single time they died after x point. Players couldn't step outside of a guarded area (and it was a heck of a lot smaller than Eve's) without getting PK'ed. I know, I was one of the PK's.
4) Called self-filtering mate. I used to see it in UO too (well more precisely the stratics forums) Everyone that agrees with you (and there's a larger number of them) is good and the minority is the whiners (everyone that disagrees with you)
5) Where was I screaming or crying? Oh, I see. Designed to provoke a predictable emotional response. Yeah, you fit the stereotype. --- Dulce et decorum, est pro patria mori! |

Attention OP!!
Stop crying! START LAUGHING! ! !
I know its a terrible loss, but just think about it.
5 battleships. If that doesn't say *FAIL* I don't know what does.
And besides, 5 BS are not tankable, PERIOD. No other ship besides a tanked BS can hold that kind of damage off until concord arrives.
And for those who don't know why its fail, just remember, it stops being *lol* when you move past kestrels onto battleships. You should really go out and *play the game* if you're fitting battleships, its bad enough that I can fly through curse high and not find a single idiot griefer trying to work off his sec these days! Hell, there's only Section XIII out there, and they're french! They only fight during the 40 hour work week!
So please, griefers, stop being gay. Come out and play the real game with the real pvpers.
