Greetings.
In EvE there is at the moment the status that when two ships reach each other they are "bumping" theirselfs away. Too often this is used in battle to hold ships away from stargates, stations or to even block ships.
I suggest to add an amount of damage to this act to make it more realistic or to balancing the effect of bumping, because at the moment even smaller ships can bump Capital sized ships across km through space by "bumping", so a little 100m ship can move a 1000m (or more) ship ? Impossible when you compare mass and size.
To make it a bit more realistic this should be thought about.
Thank you very much.

This, in theory would be nice for battles, and it only makes sense. However the problem is collisions happen so frequently, often without player control. Such as, undocking at an active station. If I undock in Dodixie, there are always at least 10-15 other ships following me.
So instead, a compromise of your idea, no damage involved, but only the larger ship will bump the smaller ship away. God knows larger ships could use a relatively massive buff.

I would make the following modification :
The damage only takes place if neither ship has shields left. Or it could be modified that a ship only takes damage if it has no shields - so a shielded ship bumping an armour ship only causes damage to the ship in armour.
Either of those would prevent mass carnage in a busy undock, but would leave it as a valid battle tactic.

As if drakes weren't OP'd already... this would make them the de-facto pvp BC to use. (If you're in collision range, you're in HAM range too).
I say if implementing ship collision, enable it for anything bumping each other. (But fix warpins first, lest you bump a gate and instapop)

yeah lol this would be a massive nerf to gallente again specifically, they are already in the dumps, short range armour tankers, now take damage by getting in range to do damage in the first place? No Thanks.
The suggestion however of smaller ships getting shoved out the way or bouncing off larger ships does make sense though, i always thought it strange that a massive BS would even react when a flimsy little frigate flies into it. ============================ 2003 and still alive! |

Wow, that's really clever. I like this a lot.
