CCP announce the dates 2-3 months before Fanfest. So, probably not before July unless they want to have Fanfest 2010 earlier then the last ones.

I'm sure September is appealing due to warmer temperatures and more daylight.
However, autumn is a long and depressing with no holidays whatsoever (around here anyway) between summer vacation and Christmas. Having fanfest in October gives me an excuse to take a week off work right in the middle, so that gets my vote. Besides, those who think it's too cold, dark and windy need to HTFU.

Even earlier would be nice, considering many gamers are students, and that I myself work at a university, I'd love for fanfest to be held even as early as August.
I went to fanfest 2009, but I had to take time off work for it during a very busy season, and probably won't be able to get the time to attend another one if they stay in October/September.

2-3 months before tha FANFEST !!!
1. Last Fanfest some basic info was given February, no later than March, 2009, esp. regarding conference dates.
2. Many people in Europe and I guess elsewhere plan their Summer holidays in February-March each year, esp. when you have a regular job.
3. 2-3 months before actual Fanfest will be June, perhaps July, and then CCP can be dead sure it will be too late for many capsuleers to attend.
Please CCP do as you did, please announce they dates next month, surely March.
Cheers from some-one has has been twice and wants to go a third time.

As nice as Sept would be, after doing some research, it seems that a lot of places lower their prices at the beginning of October..so in the interest of our budgets that may be a better idea than September.

October is the better month weather wise, yes it's harsh, yes it's cold, yes there is a good chance to see the Northern Lights, yes it's darker (feels like you have more drinking time), yes there are more gales ( means more waves in blue lagoon = awesomness in it purest form), more snow (maybe... not always).
September is warmer, wetter, lamer for weather.
I'd be happy for Fanfest to be either in October or July/August, because then there is a real difference in the weather and daylight hours.

It's more of a 5 month warning than 2-3. Last year I ordered in early May, 5 months in advance. 2008 I waited a while to order, needed to see if I could afford it. Late June, but 2008 was in November, so still 5 months in advance.
For people that worries about vacation: If you cannot get a vacation with 5 months warning, I'd tell your boss NOW that you'll be taking some around October, maybe late September and that you'll give the exact dates as soon as you know them. It should be sufficient warning...

And then they change it to the 1st weekend of Sept and you're boned...like almost happenedd to me last year when I booked the 1st weekend of Nov (same as the 2 Fanfests prior) and they changed it to the first weekend of Oct. (luckily I was able to swap with the person who had that time booked)

1st weekend of October last year was perfect. Right at the start of the winter snow so got some amazing photos and it wasn't actually all that cold (try going to iceland in Jan). Early October again plz and also if you get Sub Focus as big-ass party DJ, it would be sex.

I vaugely recall them announcing the dats last year around the end of March/beginning of April....a bit earlier would be nice though.

Let me add my voice to the call for dates.
...and my preference would be for October/November - we spend most of the time inside anyway and the cold makes the saunas/hottubs/hot springs so much better 
Earlier would make it too expensive IMHO and, frankly, all the summer vacation time has already been booked where I work.

last year iceland air has the packgages listed in march/april. CCP announed in arpil or may ish. Year before that they anoucned in like april, year before that was april, year before that was like feb. So prolly around apil

Thankfully my job is a bit more flexible with vacation time, they know that I'll need a week off sometime this fall and I only have to give them the exact dates a couple of weeks in advance (they haven't even gotten around to putting up a list for the summer vacation yet).
Still, I feel your pain and I'm getting rather annoyed that we haven't heard anything yet.
Oh, another thing. I seem to recall that Icelandair had dates for a previous fanfest several days before CCP made an announcement. Can't remember which year it was but I'm pretty sure the dates were accurate.
Granted, one shouldn't rely too much on that without an official announcement and I take no responsibility whatsoever in case they get it wrong, but if you have to guess anyway it's probably the safest option. So, keeping an eye on the Icelandair website might be a good idea if you're close to deadline (check both their US and UK sites).

I'm in a somewhat similar situation. Preliminary holiday bookings end Mar 31...anybody who books solids dates by that time gets them (by seniority if there is a date conflict) after the 31st, it's first come, first serve on any dates left.
There are people booking 1st weekend of Sept, and 1st weekend of Oct..I have seniority on them, but that only counts if I book before Weds...so please announce the dates soon so I can book in time.

I also want the dates. Last year I booked my travel and hotel and got sent on assignment for work at the last minute. No refund. I am looking forward to meeting up with new and old friends.

well i personally would like a little bit more of a notice of fanfest dates primarily bc i am deployed to afghanistan and in order for me to take my leave i have to be able to put in well in advance the dates. so please, we beg of you, release the dates.

The next EVE Online Fanfest will be held on March 24 through March 26, 2011 at the Laugardalsh÷ll Convention Center in Reykjavik, Iceland. Fanfest is a massive celebration of EVE Online between players and developers.

Just maybe said when this thread first popped up, "Hey, looks like no Fanfest this year."
Instead of making us wait, and wait, and lose out on any good holiday days, because evryone else booked while we were fighting to keep the likeliest dates free?
Well, I guess I'm done after 3 Fanfests. I loved every one I went to, and was desperately wanting to go again...but find it Extremely unlikely that I'll be able to make March work. (I hope I'm wrong...but things look bad) :(

Well if you find Keflavik gate camped by my corp between October and March, YOU (CCP) can explain to the good folk of Reykjavik, why thier airport is under seige by muso's with big guns.

Don't sweat that too much. There is a sports bar in the center of town called Bjarni Fel's which shows pretty much any major sporting event so I think you could be accommodated

I swear, some people are never happy. First, they complain that they are not getting enough notice. Now they are complaining that they have to wait too long. And really....the NCAA tournament? I am a big NCAA basketball fan, but come on, it's Fan-fest!!!! In Iceland!
I went in 2008 and it was worth the money and the wait. I can not wait to see Iceland in March.
I know you don't hear this much in these forums, but "Thank You" CCP. We have time to plan, shop for deals & build the anticipation.

Given I work for a seasonal business that starts getting busy in October, getting holiday can be very difficult for the old fanfest dates. March is a lot easier to book time off in \o/

Settle down, I was just making an observation about the tournament. I also said if I manage to go which I did get the time off to go. There was no doubt in my mind if I was going to Fanfest. As far as being able to watch the games they broadcast them on the Internet. It will just be strange to watch them in Iceland, perhaps during Fanfest sessions, instead of home.
