I hate to do it. This game has so much potential but then just seems to fall on its face in the end. Maybe Im missing something? Is there more to this game that I didnt see?
So I got my toon somewhat leveled up skill point-wise. Can fly battleships. So what am I supposed to do? I dont want to mine, I dont want to run anymore missions. What else is there? I tried FW briefly and found it the most boring form of PVP ever. I took me many nights before I even had a chance to shoot at someone. Im sorry but thats not good game design if youre going to have PVP in a game. If someone wants to PVP they should be able to get into it immediately, not flying around endlessly looking for something to shoot then you do finally see something youre "allowed" to shoot at without taking a security hit but hes 200km out flying at 2000 whatever so you have no chance of getting him.
I dont get it. What are you supposed to do in this game?
I thought I might try running some DEDs, problem is 90% of them are lvl 1-2. And most of the lvl 2 ones in my region are rogue drone which only drop materials and dont carry bounties. The closest one of interest a lvl 4 was 12 jumps away. I dont want to spend 30 minutes hoping gates, thats bad game design.
I dont know, am I missing something? Is there more to EVE that Im just not aware of? And if there is more shouldnt it be a little easier to find out about?

You could play a bit longer, get into 0.0 fleet fights, and leave the game due to the lag instead.
The game is broken in so many ways, so they hired a fanfiction writer, then an economist. The economist doesn't even understand insurance underwriting apparently, and the writer is, well, dull.

Have you tried Red vs Blue? It's where you hop into a frigate and get to pvp immediately. Or taken AU's pvp classes? That's if you want to learn about pvp in more detail.

Im in a Corp but its a small one in high sec. I had the thought maybe I should switch corps but havent wanted to because the guys Ive been playing with are good people. But all everyone in the corp seems to do is mine or run missions. Mining I have no interest in and missions Ive done enough to make me vomit.

The most important thing to do in Eve, just like real life, to avoid boredom, is to set goals. You need to think of some crazy "what if I could do anything" goals, and then shoot for them.

It's entirely possible that Eve simply never will provide the level of instant gratification you seem to want.
And yeah, PVE content is fairly thin on the ground. That's pretty much by design, even though they have added more and more over the years. But it's the players who create the stories, and that's likely how it'll stay.

Uh, ya. Thats why I wrote it.
So youre saying as soon as you undock theres war targets to shoot at? Interesting. Sounds like complete BS.

When someone who is not in a corp says the game doesn't have end game content they don't know what they are talking about. Eve, like all MMO's is a social game as much as its a pvp game.

Edited by: Herr Wilkus on 18/01/2010 22:51:14 You should learn how to suicide gank. Rather than quitting yourself, you should do what I do - try to make as many other quit Eve as possible.
Find Hulks with 2-3 month old pilots. If it is a 'main' char, losing a Hulk at that age is a crippling blow, they probably saved for weeks to buy it. After you kill them, address book them, see if they log in, and if they do somehow scr.ape together the ISK for another Hulk, track them down and blow them up again.
They usually give up after that, and go back to WOW.

Edited by: Another Whine on 18/01/2010 22:54:52 I have been in similar situation not knowing where to go next ..... untill i met a group of ppl cs. 2 years ago who tought me how to really play and all i can do is pass it on
you have heard this before : think outside the box
meening dont let content restrict you in playing the game play it on your terms, use what ever mechanic to play it like you want it played, find a niche that you like.
example of this can be found by going here by searching for example Thyrrax Thorrk and you will see that game play is not restricted by content his corp are the most succesfull infiltrators in the game isk wise ... i know others are better at it with their spy games but thats a whole nother matter
you can also play the role of an organizer for newer pilots for events and the likes ofc make it so that there is some form of profit
also you can always roll a suicide alt a maelstrom pilot only takes what 20 days to train and you can go volley haulers and other juicy stuff in highsec

It's hardly CCPs fault, ok some of it is but I blame killboards, people care too much about their killboard statistics to risk anything in a fight and therefor you get less fights.

the fun part of eve for me is running missions with friends IE my corp, i have been playing with them for about a year now
join a corp get on vent
thats the fun part
i too hate missions but when about 5 guys in T3 cruisers and rattlesnakes are blitzing through them is when it gets fun
i also set a goal at the beginning in 2007, for myself, to get into a carrier i just realized that goal last summer

This game won't take you by the hand and guide you. It's a sandbox, not a theme park. If you can't figure out what to do on your own you lack imagination or the game is simply not for you.

Certainly if you want reliable PvP action, nothing in Eve beats the battle for Wintergrasp. Personally I love defending, the fights I have been involved with over the Broken Temple seige workshop are some of the most intense PvP experiences I have had in my long years playing MMOs.
In contrast the PvP in Eve has to be nurtured, but there are many ways of doing it. You can join an RP corp, they have PvP events that are fun. A high sec griefing corp can also give you immediate PvP. If you want solo PvP try can flipping. Or just wander round low sec, a solo player usually attracts pirates, but expect to be ganked.

You might have some reasonable responses from the players that are positive and then you can ignore the idiots....kind of a filter.

Im thinking 0.0 might be worth a try. My original hope was decent sized pvp battles. Does that happen pretty frequently in 0.0?
