Hi Friends and Neighbors!
The Back Story: So no ôdoo dooö there I was sitting cloaked at a gate watching this WT approach in a Rifter (Zecks Marquies û No Trademark) informed our fleet on the other side à figured easy kill.
Target jumps through à and logs offà. And logs on, and immediately logs off again, then logs on and flys away. WTF!
So what happened on the other side of the gate.
While still cloaked the target logs off and starts emergency warp only becomes visible after warp initiated, no worries heÆll be right back! Right? Nope! The target logs back on and off again thereby initiating a new emergency warp! That Bastard! He killed Kenny! Oops! wrong genre but you get the point. When he logs back on he warps back to his emergency warp location 100k km off the gate!
So, we plod along looking for more targets and this happens again and again and again!
So I fired up the ole Petition Moped and figured I would take a drive down complaint lane! Guess what? ITS NOT AN EXPLOIT! ThatÆs right friends and neighbors! This is the newest tactic allowed by CCP.
Proof or STFU? Sure! Attached is the petition text and response!
Petition Body ------------- We are under war with No Trademark, we have observed a tactic employed by several of their members repeatedly.
We catch them on a gate, they log off while under jump cloak, then 3 or 4 seconds later immediately log back on, and log back off again, then log back on and they "return warp" to where they were logged off. i.e. 100K km away from the gate. there by avoiding the gate camp.
I believe this is an exploit.
Toons seen to use this tactic:
Hiphop Apotamus Oma de'sala Zecks Marquise
Thanks ------
Response: Hello,
I am afraid that logging on, or off, can never be treated as an exploit by us, as we simply can not control when people do this. The devs have stated though that they do not like this, and they are trying to find a solution to this, but that is difficult, as it must be balanced to hurt those that are doing this merely as lame tactics to avoid the destruction of their ships, and not hurt those too badly which genuinely have connection problems happening to them at in inopportune moment.
Best regards, GM Markab Eve Online Customer Support --------------------------
My thoughts OMG! I picked a bad week to quit dropping Acid! Did he just say this was a Tactic? So I fired back a message stating that maybe this is not what he ment? -----------
So basicly you are gonna see a lot of this TACTIC not exploit in the future.
The only way this can occur is to have two boxes and use the second to "bump" the first off line.
I understand that you cannot control this, however you inability to do so when these instances are ONLY happening at camps, and is in my OPINION an exploit, however since you view this as a valid TACTIC I will instruct our alliance to employ the same tactic, thereby leveling the playing field. You leave us no choice.
Respectfully, ---------------
And after almost an hour and a half I got the following response:
(From GM Markab) Sorry about the delay in getting back to you.
But I fear that this is indeed the policy. If this is something you feel should be changed, then the best way to bring this to the attention of the Developers is to bring the matter up on the forums, the 'Features and Ideas Discussion' specifically. While the Devs may or may not participate in the discussions there, they do follow it to see what players think could or should be improved or added in the game.
I'm sorry that we can not be of more immediate help in this.
Best regards, Eve Online Customer Support ----------
Now at this time I bet he was wishing I hadnÆt stopped sniffing Glue this week.. because I would have probably forgotten all about this... Lucky you!
So, I wish everyone the BEST of luck in using this High Sec and low sec method of evading gate camps.

Yes, we need more threads about Logoffski!
Preferably made by someone who it seems is the last person playing EVE to find out about it.
And we need more people wasting GM time by questioning petition responses that explain the situation clearly and succintly...
- Not working as intended, but too hard to prove or fix just at the moment so has to be regarded as a tactic.
Also: In before the lock for discussing petitions.

Guess this just shows my naivetT on exploits and such.
As to the lock ... I'm just doing what was suggested.. by a GM.. he may not have mentthis.. but this is what he gets.
Also ... I waslead to beleive that the logoffski was an exploit, if this is the logoffski then should that no be petionable?

As long as the target logs off while under jump cloak he's free and clear!
Only way to catch him is using a Bubble in no sec. So this is perfect for low and high sec.

So when you log off while cloaked the ship magically warps off faster than usual preventing any locking to it? I thought the ship still needs to accelerate as normal to perform the emergency warp, am I wrong?

It doesn't really work right though, it feels like when you try to lock a ship thats cloaking, you can double tap it and he gets the cursor but the lock never resolves. idk if this is something about the server giving him a default session change or what. |

wait, one of our members was using this well kept secret while flying a rifter instead of just warping off!? he has now needlessly shown our most ultimate tactic to our enemies and i will dispatch of his rifter immediately and post the killmail. thank you.
and please do not replicate his tactic. you will fail at it and die horribly. plus, it's ours, we found it first.

Actually it does. As of Apocrypha you no longer receive the 15 minute wait when you are aggressed. Also, if they logged off while under cloak you wouldn't get it anyways! =D

You actually petitioned this? Get the **** out of my queue.
You spent an hour and a half arguing about a possible rifter kill. With the level of fail you have already demonstrated, I highly doubt that you would have been able to scram a rifter before he warped, even if he didn't log off.
Hot key bound to petition bunny spotted.

Muaheheheee... Best TOPIC ever.
I would love to check estimated SP of these dudes from battleclinics, but unfortunately it's down atm.
Certainly, this must be most hilarious topic -repeat- ever.
It would me much more fun if the original poster has like 20m+ skillpoints and this Zecks Marquise like 1.6m =)
Absolutely hilarious!! rofl
Imagine.. one camping the gate.. say in arazu in with t2 fit and good skills...and this innocent looking rifter pilot arrives in mixed t1/named fit, ship smoking from previous mission, cargo full of ****ty t1 loot (or more likely he's been pew pewing etc, but for story's sake, pve)and then the anti-climax for the mighty horde on the other side of the gate: bunch of Battleships, hacs, ceptors (reason to log offski-trick, why bother otherwise?) and HIC with infinity script... and that rifter pilot does the log-off-log-on -trick...
