What's the best way to get your ships/supplies? I've heard you could use contracts to get people to haul your ships, or make a hauler alt (would take a while if you want to carry anything bigger than Cruisers). What about just buying your ships in low-sec? How much of a markup is there? Do corps usually supply ships/mods with minimal mark ups?

Contract everything to Zanaraxtarus and I'll move it all for a nominal fee (how does 1mil per 10000 m3 per jump sound?) Set up the item exchange contract and I'll get it to where you want it --Zan-- |

Not quite. I think all of the higher-tier Industrials can move a battle cruiser and fittings if you add cargo rigs. You don't even need the hauler to train the rigging skills - have a friend put the rigs on for you. Just make sure to watch the gates on your way in.

the best way to get logistics sorted in low sec, is to join a low sec corp. -------

Alts.
Every pirate, or pirate wannabe in EVE has trade alt, miner alt, mission alt or hauler alt, or something from those.
Usually they have CNR pilot wich can haul.
Pirates are actually just plain carebears with pirate alts

Hauler / freighter alt can be made in 3 weeks easily with the new remaps and training bonuses. its what i done and if you are reading this you have reached the signature without noticing. |

No, because pirates are a lot smarter... They realized years ago that posses could buy their ships and subscribtions forever. Also why would anyone spend time grinding missions in a CNR and get 20 mil per hour when you can do FW missions in a frigate and get 200 mil per hour? Edited by: Santana IV on 19/01/2010 20:18:55 Hah, don't worry, I'm actually at 0.0 status right now. This topic is for the planning of moving into low/null sec. I have a trader alt trained (took a few days) that I could probably also make my hauler alt. I could train for Industrials on the alt quickly, but eventually I'd have to move up to a Freighter for Cruisers and Battlecruisers. I don't understand how you get away with hauling such huge cargo, though. I mean, a Freighter isn't going to be escaping any gangs, meaning it's such a high risk to get your stuff into low/null sec. And besides your cargo, a Freighter is a huge investment and not something to lose. Do you just amass huge wealth so you can afford a Freighter alt before going to low-sec?
It looks like pirating could take a while to get into... not that it's a problem, just unexpected
EDIT: Does my OP have a different answer based on low or null sec, or are they essentially the same situations, just different regulations? I was under the impression that low and null sec had the same "lifestyle".

You don't need a freighter for cruisers and battlecruisers. You only need that when you get to battleships. A packaged cruiser takes up 10,000 m3, and every top end industrial can carry that much without rigs. Battlecruisers take 25,000 m3 if I remember correctly, but a rigged Mammoth is over 27,000 m3 of space and a rigged Iteron V is about 38,000 m3. To move many at once you'd need something else, true.
There's also the possibility of industry. You can buy items in hi-sec that hold lots of minerals, haul those down to low-sec with blueprint copies, reprocess the items into minerals (Citadel torpedoes are good for this, as are compressed ore blocks should you find them) and use that to manufacture the ships/supplies needed. ______________________________________________________ Isn't it enough to know that I ruined a pony making a gift for you? |

Please give a good word for this friend that added the rigs for you, because I know for a fact they are honourable and have also delivered any ships up to battleships into low sec for pirates, for a small consideration upon safe delivery.

Santana ... I assume you aren't going it alone. Most half decent pirate corps will have freighter alts and normal hauler alts who will be happy to haul stuff for free. Also many pirate corps offer free mods, ammo and T1 ships depending on their looting policy.
If you join a decent corp then you will be fine. If you are going it alone then you will need a hauler alt who is also trained to fly whatever ships you like to fly if they wont fit in a hauler.

No, I won't be doing it alone. I don't think I'll end up training for a Freighter, as that's pretty costly and I don't plan on flying BSs in null.
Also, can someone clarify my above question? Are null-sec and low-sec similar situations? I want to be in null-sec because of sovereignty and I'm hearing low-sec just isn't as fun as it used to be =/ |
