I see your issues with that, but I suspect that what was meant was that they are the largest crystals found up to this point. Well at least I hope whoever wrote that would not intentionally make such a broad claim. But I guess that the saying ignorance is bliss was made up for a reason

National Geographic aired a great documentary about this cave a few months back, the conditions inside made the researchers job extremely hazardous its just a shame they will either have to re-flood the cave to prevent it from degrading so its a race to learn as much as they can before then.

where did they say anything about degrading it? they are going to flood it because the company that owns the mine will eventually close the mine, and then it will flood. all about the money.
