So I recently started an alt, I setup my API info through evemon on the first or second day, and after another day or two activated the account with a plex. I now want to retrieve my full API key but it tells me new accounts cannot access the forums for 72 hours for security reasons WTF? I am not trying to access the forums with my alt, I am trying to access my API information. Is this a glitch or just poor design?
I cannot understand why I am unable to access the API page on a paid account when I had no trouble accessing it on a trial.

Obviously, the API key log in is tied to the forum access. Since you can't log in in the first 72 hours after the first payment, you'll have to wait.
You may call it bad design, but you have to see that the code of eve online had been there long before the API was introduced and therefore the restriction on both the forum and the API might simply bee the only feasible way to do it without recoding everything.

The 72 hour wait is there to slow down Isk sellers and other forum spammers. As these people create accounts for the sole purpose of spreading malware, it's reasonable to ask from other players to be patient. After all it hits you only once per newly created character. At the same time it helps keeping tons of accounts a tiny bit safer and the forums a bit tidier.

Yes, but the API and accessing the API has nothing to do with forum spammers, account security or the forums altogether. I've encountered this minor annoyance but it was really just that, a minor annoyance. 72 hours isn't that long to wait to get your API.
That said, what is CCP so busy with that they don't have the time to fix problems such as this?
