I have just 1 very old saved fitting ingame. All my recent ones since Apocrypha have vanished.
Any ideas?

Can't help but cross-post this important point about this fiasco...
So if they are unrecoverable and truly lost....how much of our time has CCP just nuked in one fell swoop.
Well...CCP says there are about 300,000,000 subscribed accounts. Now let's say that only 1/8th of those accounts used personal fittings and lost them. So that's 37,500 accounts. If, on average it takes 30 minutes to reconstruct their saved fittings (again a very conservative number I suspect), that's 18,750 man hours. Divide that by 24 and you get 781 days which is just over 2 years.
So that's about 2 years worth of usable-game-time that was just wasted/lost.
Nice one CCP....
Maybe you guys ought to build a better backup routine or a backup option into the patcher, huh?

I was left with 1 fitting. My alt which made some fittings after dominion are all gone except 1 but all were made post-dominion. My corps fitting lib has 3 left in it. I wonder if the UUIDs got messed up or someting after chaging motherships? |

Having checked all my accounts i see the same across them all... Hours of work gone and fittings which had been retained for future use now not avilable. fittings obtained from others gone and probably never to be seen again.
come on CCP.. what have you done ?? and what can you do to recover these ??

I believe CCP Ninja came, and took them all, for his plan to dominate eve using sleepers who harness the power of cowbell, and the nanite apples of the robotic angel cooking hippos with square heads.
We shall soon see if I am correct. |

CCP deleted them, it are local files, so only way to get them back is to run a file recovery tool and hope they are not overwritten, there is little chance tho, since there are files applied with the patch at around the same location, finally a file recovery takes a long time, you probably have them setup faster.
I feel for you guys, luckely I have everything exported to file and then imported in EFT.
It's a screwup of CCP, but the only thing we can ask is for them not repeating the same mistake next patch.

The patch doesn't touch the .xml files. You just have to reimport the fittings.

yup - also have this issue.
Guys, can you please submit bugreports and/or petitions? As this will enable CCP to see how badly people are affected by this problem!

I've found that I can no longer import fittings which were exported from evehq unless they have no ammo fitted in the fitting. Before latest patch, fittings with ammunition imported fine into eve.
When I found all my fittings missing after the patch, I attempted to reimport some of my fittings from my fttings folder but the client would pop up an error message stating fitting file was corrupt due to quantity of ammo item (ie, Wrath Cruise Missile) Kung-Fu movies are like **** films!, First there is one on one, then two on one, then a group scene....... |

Same thing for me and all of my corpmates.
Several hours will be lost if we need to recover them, even with import from EFT.

There's some more information on this in the dominion 1.1 feedback thread: Originally by: Catari Taga -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Edited by: Catari Taga on 21/01/2010 20:28:47

Originally by: CCP Chronotis -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Thanks for reporting this, are the files still present in your eve directory (personal fittings are saved locally)? (c:\<user>\Documents\EVE\fittings folder)? --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
That's incorrect, the fittings folder takes the exported XML files. The ingame storage is in %USERPROFILE%\Local Settings\Application Data\CCP\EVE\e_eve_tranquility\settings (I'll assume that's not your area of responsibility ).
While I have the old filed backed up since you guys tend to break settings each patch you cannot use the backup since the client will break it again when you log back in. Newly stored fittings do however save correctly so you must have changed the format you stored them in --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Do you know if it's any particular file the fittings are stored in? --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The core_char_{characterID}.dat files.
Originally by: CCP Chronotis -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Indeed you are right! I just got corrected by CCP Habakuk next to me
We are looking into it. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
but sadly nothing more yet.

After applying the Dominion 1.1.1 patch I was able to get my fittings back by restoring the "core_char_<userid>.dat" file in the settings folder. I used the builtin VSS-feature of windows vista to restore the file from a date before dominion 1.1. So I'm happy with that now.
