Are there any way I can move the eve folder from a computer with windows XP to another computer with vista and still be able to play? On the vista computer I dont have administrator rights so I cant move anything into the appropriate Programs folder, so I tried to put it on the desktop but that dident work..
Anyone know how I can make it work?

Using the installer might work.
Or you could try the repair.exe in the EVE directory.

Just copy the client over. The installer just extracts a copy of the client too. ----------------------------------------------

So why aint it working? I put a copy of the eve folder on the desktop, and then run the .exe file, so I get the very first opening screen up ( the one showing the dominion cover ) then nothing more..

I actually have the very same problem, but my vista comp is crap, so that might be the reason...

I have done this both vista to xp and xp to vista without problems. Copy the entire CCP directory from one machine to the other. thats it. As far as I am aware Eve has no registry entrys to worry about - comfirm/deny someone?

Shouldn't be a problem since you can play from an USB stick.

Copy d3dx9_35.dll and d3dx9_41.dll into the client's root directory (the same directory with eve.exe.) Make a new shortcut to eve.exe and append /end /LUA:OFF in the target text box. This will allow you to use EVE Online on most computers without access to the C: drive or administrative rights.
The client requires no registry entries.

Confirmed - EVE on Vista or Win7 will have a brain-fart if DirectX 9 isn't installed (which isn't installed on the OS by default). If you don't have admin rights, then not sure how you're going to install DirectX 9 anyway. I'm assuming that Kembla has tested copying those 2 files across, and it works, so I'll agree with what he said :)

I have Deep Freeze installed which effectively deletes new files on C: on each reboot. It keeps Windows as fast as the day it was installed, but also makes using some programmes more difficult.
