The winner has already been chosen! All you need to do is check your account and you will find the ISK there if you are the lucky person!
Last night I got hit by what I think was a bug in the game, and I've since petitioned - but as alts have come up in the dev blog I thought about something that might happen...
Basically I transferred 31M to a corp mate using the corp list and the money never arrived. I checked my Journal and it had gone to a completely random individual. That character seems likely to be someone's ALT as it has a 0.0 sec rating. This has me worried as that someone might delete their character without ever checking their wallet...I only hope my petition gets answered in time.
If you do have an alt character please check your wallet before recycling, if you return the money (assuming my petition hasn't already worked) then I will give you a VERY substantial honesty reward, as well as highly valuable information which will be worth MUCH more to you than simply pocketing all the money.
Also if you only rarely use an alt, please check your accounts - it could be you :-)
I have EVEMailed the recipient, if I get no response from the petition or the player I will post the name in a couple of days in the hopes that someone will know who's alt it is.

There is always the chance that the recipient is an unscrupulous person who will take the money and then delete their account (although I'm really hoping this isn't the case). I would like the petition to have a chance to be answered. If I get a negative reply from the petition, or it doesn't get answered in a reasonable time, then I will of course post the character name immediately.
If the petition does get answered before the person returns the money, I will still send them a small sum as I kind-of think the whole thing is quite funny - but no handy information of course. :-)

Also, if the name got posted, every wannabe pirate within 4000 lightyears would be after them. (and probably some opportunists too ;) )

Is it actually possible to send money (or sending any messages) other than through right clicking?
I guess a mistake is possible, but as I was using the corp list I think this is unlikely - I can'r really think of what I could have clicked on to send it to the wrong person.

Had a first reply from my petition, and I forgot to include my own char name in my query - although I sent it from my char...
Oh well, awaiting next response :-)
Remember - big cash reward and VERY valuable information for returning the ISK. If the GMs choose not to cancel the transaction I will post the char name at about 9PM GMT.

Well no sign of a second answer yet from my petition yet, also no sign of the alt having logged in all evening.
Well, I guess the time has come to announce the winner then:
Yasira...today is your lucky day!
She is in The Syndicate of Pain corporation (or was it 'The Pain Syndicate' , CEO is Mr Pain), whose HQ is in Reblier I believe.
As well as the reward going to Yasira if she does the decent thing, I will also give a reward of 1M ISK simply for getting me in touch with her - providing the original money is returned of course.

(Well negative response as expected from GMs, so it's down to Yasira now.)
Repeat - I will give 1M ISK to the person that puts me in contact with Yasira on successful return of the money. A substantially larger honesty reward of ISK plus pirate kit and information will go to Yasira. Yasira and her Corp 'The Pain Syndicate' are believed to be operating in the Reblier system area.
(I have spoked to another player playing as Yasira and it seems they are in the opposite time zone to me, which makes things even more difficult to sort out)

Strangely enough Yasira's corporate CEO appeared entirely unaware of the matter; this then may be a cautionary tale to the owners of intersteller companies, make sure you know what your companions and peers are doing with your trust and reputation.
Ah well, 'tis by the by, doubtless the excitement and driving passions of conflict will be their own reward in times to come.

Athule i have to ask who was you trying to send it to i know a corp mate.
there names must be very similar for this to have happened. was it a case of case sensative name?
oh well gl with getting it back and if they have taken and decided to keep it then i wish you luck with what ever action you decide to take.
