Tomarrow at 6:30 PM GMT, the top cheese will meet for two days in London to discuss how we humans might react to the possibility of meeting intelligent life, and the idea of them already being here amongst us, sounds pretty whacky and out of the blue..... but considering the agencys which are attending its pretty serious business.
Nasa European Space Agency UN Office for Outer Space Affairs (WTF? didnt even know such agency existed) President of the Royal Society Eminent academics and scientists
and some other cheese.
oh and you can watch it live tomarrow at the following link http://royalsociety.org/live/

it depends, the star trek community will welcome them as allis the redneck community and military will want to kill them. the religious community will try to convert them or some religions disband because aliens disproves their religion(then again, fossils and evolution has not phased them) and some countries (who, because this is an international game i will not say, but we all know) will surrender, unconditionally, before the aliens can say one word. but i think everyone will beg "GIVE ME WARP DRIVE!!!!".

According to the Drake-Equation, adjusted to the present knowledge of our universe, there should be at least one other intelligent civilization in our Galaxy. And our Galaxy is only one out of billions.
Although it might be a problem for the two (or more) civilizations in our Galaxy to actually meet each other, it will happen one day. The only question is when.
The position of Earth and the fact that it habits intelligent life is right now known in a sphere of approx 70 lightyears around our solar system, expanding by a lightyear each year. We only need to wait till this sphere is big enough that another civilization will be able to notice it. In astronomical time spans we will probably get knowledge about the other civilization around the same time they will detect us.

If intelligent life is discovered it's probably a good idea to wipe it out if possible.

Easy enough in the earths case if you have the ability to cross interstellar distances. Tow in a few good size rocks from the asteroid belts and drop them in the worlds oceans at the optimal points and you get 95% of humanity washed away in just a day or so leaving the planet mostly untouched ecologically speaking past no land life. Drop some small rocks on the very few places to not get washed away to limit atmospheric contamination and poof no moar pesky humans only leaving a shiney clean surface to establish a new colony.
