I've been capturing a few screenshots to show off the new UI and graphics of Exodus, and I hope CCP doesn't mine me linking a bit here.
Enjoy, and hope it keeps your excitement going until the server is up!

nice screens.
Semi-OT Question:
Now that the un-movable "overview-window-of-doom" sits bastardily up in the top-right corner, where do you keep your main grouping of chatwindows?

I keep all of my chat windows tabbed into the same singular window, kept at the bottom left of my screen. Default place :)

How how how how how how how (how) do you get eve to be on both monitors? Do you have to have 2 adapters (I'm using only one 9800pro atm...) --------------------------------------- Stella - If your boss gets to choose. |

I've got one NVIDIA GeForce FX 5900 on 128 megs of RAM. It has an analog (CRT) out and a Digital (LCD flatscreen) output. So, I put them side by side, use the NVIDIA drivers to tell it to span the desktop.
Then, in EVE it has the option to expand fullscreen as appropriate.

beautiful screenshots!!
please explain!
in system display settings you set your secondary monitor to "extend my windows desktop onto this monitor", right? or how do u "span" the display over 2 monitors, does ati support this?
what resolutions do u have them set to, and what settings did u alter in eve client grafic settings?
this should work with a 9800se with 2 CRT monitors i suppose...

I don't trust the "Extend my windows blah blah" settings, so I use the Nvidia drivers. With NVIDIA drivers an extra panel for NVIDIA settings are in place to configure the deeper settings of your video card and monitor. In those Nvidia settings, I tell it that I want both monitors at 12024x768 with 32bit color depth. Then I stay in the same nvidia settings screen to tell it to set both monitors to use "Horizontal Span". After that, it designates the primary monitor as the left side and the secondary monitor as the right side. And now I quite literally have one single desktop that spreads across both screens.

In the EVE graphical settings it will ask you for full screen or windowed, and then below that the resolution size. Once you've configured windows to use the monitors in a "horizontal span" mode, EVE detects that it could actually merge those two screens and treat them as one single monitor.
Thus, in the EVE settings and in my windows settings, it ends up being detected and used as a 2048 by 768 resolution.
I'm sure ATI can, I just have no idea how.

It's dead easy to do as most graphics cards seem to be dual-head enabled these days. My last couple certainly have been, both nVidia FWIW.
I just set my desktop to horizontally span. This gives me a 2 x 1280 by 1024 resolution desktop. Going full screen in Eve spans the two, but I don't like having the 'join' in the centre much.
So I use 2 x Eve clients running on my desktop, both at 1280x1024, so they both fill the screen completely. Works great. You need to convert your widescreen desktop to a single desktop display so you can fool Eve into giving you a Windowed 1280x1024 resolution in the settings menu, but after doing that, reverting back to horizontal span works fine.

ive done alittle more research into this, and things dont look good for ati cards in regards to dual monitor setup for a single eve account
heres some info from tom`s hardware guide website:
http://graphics.tomshardware.com/graphic/20040216/dual_displya-03.html
"We're not sure why ATi's cards don't support spanning modes. Most likely, the driver is to blame. The driver treats ATi multi-monitor cards like two individual devices, each with its own driver. As a result, ATi's cards have to be considered second choice for dual-monitor gaming setups."
i dont have hydravision installed atm since im running the omega drivers, maybe ill get to fiddling around with it soon. But i doubt it will give me a satisfying solution |
