Just put in the new PNY gtx 260 i got yesterday. Downloaded the drivers from Nvidia.com and logged in. I'm 4-5 minute into my first mission and game crashes to desktop. Hmm. Log back in. Collect drones that weren't destroyed. I adjust all the graphic settings to low. Start fighting again and 3-4 minutes later crash to desktop again. This cycle repeats till i finish the mission. tried the repair tool everything. Is there an issue between eve and my new card? This was happening very occasionally with my old card, also an nvidia. But it would stay running longer before crashing, 2 hours or so.

What PSU you got? Does this happen in other games also or just in EVE? Tried different drivers?

just happens in eve... you can only dl the latest and greatest from nvidia.com, not sure i'd trust older drivers for a new card. what is a psu?

EVE Graphic Setting:
Present Interval -> Interval One
That might sort your issue.
You can download older drivers from Nvidia by searching for their legacy page. Try the 191 or 186 drivers for the GTX260. ------------------------------------- The system issues man. |

Ok, it was set to 1 and i just tried it on immediate. No change still crashes. And could you put a link up to the legacy driver page? i'm not seeing it when i visit that site.

I had GeForce 8800GT, had constant crashes after Dominion 1.1, and now after Dominion 1.1.1 came, it burned. GFX card just died along with motherboard.
Anyway, I am not really sure wich one died first.
So I can't confirm if the crashes were caused by dying GFX card or EVE. However, it seems that nvidia & eve aren't talking very well right now..

Date 30.01.2010 Client from my Wife Crashed .. Graphic Card overburned and broke after installing Dominion 1.1.1 and playing for a while. Date 31.01.2010 My Client Crashed with the same Error .. Nvidia Driver resets after the Crash. both cards are Nvidia 9600 GT with driver 195.62.
It seems that the client brings the Cards to extreme temperatures after Dominion 1.1.1.

Edited by: Vak''ran on 31/01/2010 16:58:23 Edited by: Vak''ran on 31/01/2010 16:57:24 To those that have their video cards burning out, and are taking over the thread in malinformed anger:
A game doesnt burn video cards. Dont blame CCP, blame your card manufacturer. If that card is not protected against overheating, the manufacturer is to blame.
Also, if you put that PC togehter yourself, and stuff overheats with EVE, go sit in a corner in shame and send that box to someone who knows what he's doing. If you bought a readymade product, go be angry at the ppl that sold it to you. Again, if software can overheat a card, everything BUT the software makers are to blame. If EVE requires more graphics oompf after a patch, that should be an inconvenience, not break your hardware, if it does it was in a sorry state indeed. You might also notice that the OP has another problem entirely which he's not getting any help with from your whining.
OP: Have you tried a slightly older driver package? Over the years I have had some ' latest' packages being less stable than the one before that. Interval immediate puts even more pressure on your card/PSU/whatever is the failing part, if it was at interval one leave it there, try interval two to see if less strain makes things more stable.
The first poster's suggestion to check out the PSU is a good one - new and more powerful video card usually eats more power, try monitoring voltages with speedfan or whatnot.
edit: psu = power supply -----

Here are some tips for those of you with overheating issues:
1) Dnload Speedfan or any of a number of hardware monitoring utilities that display the temperature of onboard components.
2) If you're CPU temperatures are >= 70 Celsius during game play, then it's time to open'er up and operate. GPU temps around 60 Celsius are normal from what I've seen but others may disagree. Buy a good thermal compound. I use Arctic Silver. Remove your video card. Remove it's heatsink/fan. Sc**** off the crappy thermal pad put on by the manufacturer. I use a razor or knife and then a *non-scratch* 3M scour pad you can buy at the grocery store to clean dishes. Don't make scratches. Clean it thoroughly. Apply adequate thermal compound. Reattach heatsink. Repeat for CPU or GPU or chipsets as needed. Watch in amazement as temperatures drop.
3) If you're CPU temps are hovering around 60 Celsius, consider better cooling and thermal compounds. Oh, your components will operate at this temp just fine, mostly. Higher temperatures may mean shorter life for some components. All are not created equal. For me a comfortable range is 45 - 55 Celsius while gaming with air cooling only. Better cooling means, bigger heatsinks, more airflow. And for the love of God dust out your computer every 6mos. I made filters for my case fans using your average ordinary A/C filter material.
4) If it's been a couple of years since you bought your computer or applied thermal compound, it might be time to re-apply. Thermal compounds tends to dry and harden over time becoming less effective.
FYI I have a Geforce 9800 GTX+. The first thing I did with it when I unpacked it was remove the fan/heatsink, cleaned it, applied Arctic Silver. I do this will all components that require a heatsink/fan. Depending, a good thermal compound applied correctly can reduce temps 5 - 8 degrees from my experience. Going from stock heatsinks/fans to good, high quality aftermarket heatsinks/fans can give you another 3 - 7 degrees depending.
