There were aliens in the game, but there was a bug, they escaped to the forums and ate the spell check function.
If I tried to make a type of coffee that made all of you happy, and you rated it, the group score for it would be about 60 out of 100. Break into 3 or 4 coffee clusters, and made coffee just for each cluster, the scores would go from 60 to 78. The difference between coffee at 60 and coffee at 78 is a difference between coffee that makes you wince or makes you happy. |

Speaking only for myself, it's actually refreshing that there are no aliens in the vein the OP would like. As I've gotten older, nothing is a bigger turn-off than ridged forehead "aliens" who roughly resemble some human culture, while the "humans" in-universe appear to have forgotten their own past and continuously refer to how "different" the "aliens" are. |

I have to agree with centaur about how unrealistic it is to leave out sentient aliens. More advanced, less advanced, it doesn't matter. It just doesn't make sense to me how, against all odds, an entire galaxy of humans with technology from the the twenty-three thousandth millennium hasn't even made contact with another sentient life form.
I recall reading in an ambulation article that CCP wanted eve to be the ultimate sci-fi immersion experience. I've been reading lately that CCP has excluded sentient aliens on purpose and that many people find the idea cliche. Anyone else *smell* the dissonance?
Bottom line: If it's still one of the main goals of CCP to make eve the 'ultimate sci-fi immersion experience' then non-human sentients are inevitable. (though it may be ten or twenty years from now) |

In the Lore we left Earth, so we could have more resources, and could stop being poor all the time. Meeting aliens, would mean we would have to share the resources and go back to being poor all the time. Why we are lucky enough not to meet any aliens.

i think if ccp makes aliens they should make them some what advanced. aka meaning a different style race. that makes their own decisions. also meaning capabale of fighting and useing fleet tactics as most player fleets can.
calling primarys.
DD devices. from a central hive.
ability to use drones.
able to conquer systems
thats what i see aliens should be able to do. as most aliens in movies are far advanced then humans. |

It's true! They've got a POS set up in Gallente low-sec somewhere and everything. They abducted me, took me there, and tampered with my bits, before drugging me and dumping me out of the cargo hold in Rancer.
Managed to find my way to Jita 4/4 by stowing away in the hold of a neutral hauler alt's Itty MKIV, otherwise I'd probably be space dust by now. |

The issue here is, that almost every sci-fi breaks immersion for me(and many others) with 2 main things:
1. Total ignorance about basic Newtonian mechanics.
2. Humanoid aliens.
Now the first part is semi-OK due to gameplay reasons, and this game has a very decent industry/market side of game, where flaws in basic science are not that obvious. But the second part is just stupid and comes from old sci-fi films having aliens as humans in make-up/suits. This is totally stupid and very unrealistic.
I am copy-pasting from Wikipedia about Carl Sagan, he said something like this:
"...alien life forms were unlikely to bear any resemblance to terrestrial life..."
Now, you can say... make non-terrestial looking aliens, but they still usually end up like humans with an insect/reptile head(like Mass Effect) or they make some lame creationist excuse about higher powers creating all life and thus everyone looking like an human.
The design and back story of EVE Online is obviously more gritty cyberpunkish/Blade Runner type with setting taking place in space, where corporations dominate, humans kill humans and there is no pure evil in the world.
The second type of sci-fi is space coalitions bringing space democracy to space aliens and/or fighting some galactic evil ala Star Trek. I much prefer the first type of sci-fi and I am sure many will agree with me. |
