This movie was randomly on TV, so I sat down to watch it.
The Butterfly Effect (2004)
Any of you guys remember it? Do you think that the effects of time travel could really work that way? What would it be like to try and go back in time, only to **** things up for yourself or your friends every time?
Sorry, I shouldn't be mixing medicines.. Benadryl, ibuprofen and Tylenol Extra Strength do wierd things..

Rubbish, it was in fact the only decent film he has been in, it was a very good film and I would give it a healthy 8/10. ------

Let's throw this out: Time traveling is already incorporated into the causality chains and nothing really changes as everything has already happened.
Then again, you could go with timelines, which only means you don't change anything in reality, but you shift yourself over to a alternative timeline instead of your old one.
Or time is only a theoretical value and traveling through it is not possible as it doesn't really exist to travel through.
And if you want to go down that lane, everything is random and nothing really matters anyway. --------

How about watching a good timetravel/paradox movie, like perhaps Primer?

Firsty time travel is unpossible. But lets assume it is and that pile of tripe called the many worlds theory is correct.
Then when you jump back in time you create a new universe, so any effects in that universe won't affect events in the universe you came from.
So you can kill your daddy and shag your mummy in the 'past' and nothing will happen in the 'present'.

I am not going to ponder the possibility of time travel and/or infinite universal coexistence. But I will say that I was very surprised with Ashton's acting in the movie. I would give it a solid 7/10 due to issues I do have with time travel and how it was done in the movie.

Time travel has been proven and happens every second of every day. Going forward in time is easy. It's going backwards in time that's impossible.

nowai, its all about warping space, and sense space and time come in one package, warping space= warping time. and what warps space time? gravity! it has already been proven that objects further away from earth are subjected to less gravity and go through time slightly slower. why know they have to keep resetting the clocks on satellites because of this? all we need to do is find a way to master it. which is not imposable, but a ***** to accomplish.

I took a date to this movie back when it came out.
She was cute, don't remember the movie too much. I was pretty sure it sucked and I'm not going to watch it again to make sure.

Awww come on, he's not THAT bad.
True he isn't some award-winning actor, and likely never will be, but he's got his good moments and good parts too.
And yes I do remember Butterfly Effect! It's one of my guilty pleasures :P. The movie itself wasn't really that great, but the idea is interesting and unique.
Newton put it best, for every action there is a reaction. It is true, everything you do in life has a consequence to it, whether good or bad. Sometimes there is no telling what it is, but generally a good action leads to a good consequence, and a bad to a bad, etc... Life is a woven piece of cloth in which every strand is its own entity but must depend on each other to stay together. :) --------------------------------------------------
