I played EVE rather extensively from Red Moon Rising on a little ways to Revelations II and finally became to busy around the Trinity launch. So I have certainly played EVE before, and even had a bit of fun in an alliance which I'm not sure still exists, the Interstellar Alcohol Syndicate or something or other... Anyways, I just decided to get back into EVE after getting a computer that is not an anthropologically worthy discovery, and as such, I'm just wondering what in the name of all that's good in the world happened to EVE while I left? From what I see, the dynamics have changed a lot, although people still seem to hate the sovreignty system.... If anyone could give me a short recap of say, what major 0.0 Sec politics is like, how the races have been playing compared to each other (as in, is Amarr still being beat on? and are the Caldari ever going to be worth something besides support in PvP?) How the mission structure dynamic has changed, and say how bad the inflation I keep hearing about has gotten? Any help for a player from the yesteryears would be greatly appreciated! Although I know a lot about old EVE, I'm functionally a newb with all these changes (which I suppose are mostly for better YAY SKILL QUEUE!!!!) _________________________________________________________________ Wrong! - Cortes YES! BoB reformed to IT alliance and kicked the goons back out. Goonswarm is broken up ATM and some have united under the name BOB (don't be fooled) Pandemic Legion got kicked out of fountain and it is now a place for IT pets. Cva is getting kicked out of Prividence by AAA NC is still boring IAC and SMASH are deadish. --------------------------------------------------- THE BIG BANG: First there was nothing, Then it exploded.
The AEther Caldari Agony Unleashed Agony Empire	Posted - 2010.02.10 22:20:00 - [4] If I remember correctly it was -A- that pushed IAC out (it was conglomerate not syndicate), but they went down fighting to the last day so it was largely considered a valiant death with lots of pew pew and little drama and CAOD tears. Right now in the south there is -A- which is harboring Ushra'Khan alliance and they pewpew united agianst CVA. A bit further in is Red Overlord which is part of what was Red Alliance, which sort of died also btw. There is also Atlas & a bunch of smaller alliances. The sovereignty changes that CCP introduced have been said to favor the defending party in 0.0 wars. These changes also somehow introduced a whole new level of lag to 0.0 fleet battles which many people are in process of posting complaint threads about. The dyspro/prom bottleneck is rumored to have been moved over to technetium, of which there are many moons in the north but supposedly it is not going to increase in price much until like a year passes so it is not very valuable right now. Both dyspro and prom got devalued to something like 2-3 bil income per month from 10+ that they were. People don't need POSes now to hold sov, which means less moon mining going on. Combining this with crazy moon mineral price manipulation that drove some inventors/T2 manufacturers out of T2 market for a while, prices on quite a few T2 items have considerably gone up. HACs went up to 130+ mil in value, Hulks spiked up to 200 mil, jump freighters went from 4 bil to 5bil, and so on. Right now prices are dropping down a bit. Races are pretty leveled and at least I haven't seen any threads about some extreme imbalances. Minmatar arti got boosted so now highsec is experiencing a higher level of arti-fitted suicide Tempest sitting on gates looking for juicy targets to alpha. Pretty much all faction ships got boosted. Rattlesnakes are like Domis now in PVE. Gila, the Caldari faction cruiser, can now field 5 heavy drones. We also got new faction battleships like Navy Geddon and Navy Scorpion which you can get only via factional warfare. Lowsec and 0.0 are being overrun by Dramiels which is da **** to fly right now for small ship pilots liking to solo. Tracking enhancers and computers now give a nice falloff bonus so you are likely to encounter minmatar ships fitting those instead of ambit rigs, which also gives them better tracking coincidentally. And titans can insta-pop motherships and jump freighters with their "death ray" if you stick around one for too long lol - they no longer have area of effect doomsday weapon. I logged in one day, it was fine, changed skills, said to myself, huh. we seem to be in a war, logged out. Next day, BoB owned the station I was sitting in... Still have 75% of my stuff in that station, and now its owned by AAA.... Oh well, time to start anew.... EVE politics is so much more fun and interesting than real politics, what with the constant corruption and stupidity that runs rampant in this country....
