Yah i know these for the most part. but can any one explain to me why the following would be used? How exactly they work?
Assault launchers- cruiser with light missiles?
Defender Missiles- Quite close to useless rite?
And F.o.F. Missiles of any kind.- If launched do they attack friendly and enemy? only characters attacking me? |

assault launchers are good anti-frigate weapons.
defenders are useless
FOF missiles have some use when jammed.

FOF missiles have some use when jammed.
F.O.F. also have the longest range, since they don't have to be targeted. They can hit stuff at max missile range (max 249 km) regardless of targeting range.

You sure about that? Last time I used them at long-range there was a ~90 km activation limit thingie.

I stopped using FoF a long time ago when they cared more about attacking asteroids and gates and cans and my own drones than they did what ever was jamming me.
maybe they've been fixed by now I have no idea. Besides, I'm never gonna give you up, never gonna let you down |

Echo what the others said about Assault Launchers.
As for Defenders, yeah, 99% of time they are useless..Only time I have seen them used is in *pure* tanking ships where a lot of incoming missile damage was seen. Great to help minimize some of the incoming while tanking (especially when you see anywhere from 5-8 defenders eliminating a complete missile damage from a ship or two).

I can imagine a tackler like the Malediction, using defender missiles in their rocketlaunchers could perform well (in theory as I haven't tested it).
Malediction, lays a point on a drake, and starts launching defenders. The damage output of the Drake will be quiet downgraded and friends/fleetmembers will have some more time to take a Drake down and get such a degree of incoming DPS that they get out of the fight alive.
As said already this is theory, I haven't used them in battle before so don't know if this is something that will work. (might be working a little similar in missions like AE).
As for the assault launcher. Outfit a Caracal with T2 assault launchers a massive passive tank and it will eat frigates.

I like to tell stories indeed especially the cool ones. It also like to receive constructive comments/feedback. Ever heard of out of the box thinking. If it doesn't work, fine by me, but I would like to know whyit couldn't.

I've not just tested it, I've used this extensively when tackling mission-runners. It works. It doesn't eliminate the Drake/Raven's DPS, but it does reduce it considerably.

Thinking about the only use for defenders could be a plex tanker or lvl 5 mission tank. For pvp used to be useful on falcons to limit the Dmg from fof now you might do the same thing with an scorpion so there are some uses for it and they dot lag the system up like mines did. Keep them I say
It could help them IF they would get a separate module for them that would be high slot not turret or launcher just highslot to use to fill those utility slots unbonused highs etc then it would actually be very usefull.
