Linkage
So according to this article, scientists have found that people with a certain area of brain damaged are more likely to engage in risky, money-losing behavior (gambling, risky business moves etc). So maybe the carebears are right after all, Pirates really are a bunch of deranged people!

Except that is in real life and EVE is a game. You can not make the same inferences.

They just want to put any deviant behavior into the insane category so they can lock disagreeing people away for 'treatment'. It's all an agenda to produce more placid sheep and weed out any threat to total populace control. Kids being kids getting drugged with valium and stuff to keep them placid and controllable is basically the same thing.
You take your pills to treat your pathological risk attraction, I'll be keeping my tinfoil hat. --------

I tend to lump people who do the same boring repetitive things every day for hours on end as somewhat mentally unstable or on the verge of such a condition. PRAISE THE SCOTTISH FOLD!!

So if somebody doesn't do the same boring task repeatedly over and over again every day they are mentally deranged, but if you do your obsessive compulsive....

It's just the grind gland that's damaged, with carebears that thing is working just fine spreading it's repulsive and vile mind controlling venom. With pirates that gland is slowly becoming rudimentary, shriveling more and more with each generation.
So it's not damage as such, it's evolution AWAY from the horrid grinding.

It depends on your goals.
If your goal is to make money, then the findings for gambling, etc are valid. But pirates aren't trying to make money, they're trying to score killmails. In that sense ISK becomes a means to that end and your point is invalid, unless they're kind of pirates that fly around shooting everything they see regardless of whether it's a good idea or not.

Struck a nerve have I?
At the risk of using stereotypes I would think that being a welfare recipient doing nothing but drink and watch television is just a boring a repetitive as the equivalent job.
Education if you have any passion for what you are studying is seldom boring or repetitive.
But I digress, I was merely stating the rebuttal for those who think entrepreneurs and other individuals who partake in so called "risky" behavior are mentally imbalanced.
In my view that people who do the same things repeatedly without passion, interest or the consideration of trying something different seems insane to me.

Wow
You just spent way too much time looking into the deeper meaning of an innane and ultimately stupid response. I'm sorry that you will never get that part of your life back.
