Okay, here is what I am wondering... Systems A, B, and C are on a one-way pipe.
In system A I engage a target, he shoots back but I lack the DPS to crack him and so he de-aggresses and jumps into system B and logs off immediately. Can I scan him down?
And then furthermore, beyond specific examples, when you are aggressed there are two kinds of aggression. "I got shot" two minute aggression timer, and the "I shot someone" fifteen minute aggression.
When you jump a gate does it clear one or both? Or is it like sec status so if you jump a gate you are clear in the new system but if you jump back you are still aggressed.
I want to put this to bed once and for all!

If you are npcing it's 2min agression timer. If you got shot or shoot a player its 15min timer.
At present jumping through gate clears agression timers. Also removes people from killmail if killed on other side of gate.

Let me try to get it correct. I am sure I will be wrong on something (particularly the timings).
If you aggress someone, you can not dock or jump through a gate until 2 minutes after your last aggression (be it gun, missile, ecm) - just being locked does not count as aggression. So if you think you may get destroyed and want to jump or dock while you are aggressing someone - deaggress and start counting to 160 seconds. However if someone aggressed you but you did not respond other than a simple lock, u can still dock or jump.
Additionally, you have a system aggression timer - per system. If you aggress someone or are aggressed by someone in a system - you or their ships aggression remain in said system for 15 (or is it 20) minutes. So if you shot someone and they manage to escape - warp to a safe and logoff - you have 15 minutes after your last act (or even their last act) of aggression on them. However, if they jump into another system, they get a clean slate on aggression - it is refreshed. So they can just control+q once they jump intot he next system. YOu can try to then scan them down in said 2 mintues time.
One additional thing. If someone jumps into the system (say into a middle of a gate camp) and they decide to just control+q before they uncloak, you have 1 minute or so to destroy them before they emergency warp - and no - that will not be considered aggression timer towards them so you will not be able to scan them down. ___ It deosnt mttaer waht oredr the ltteers in a wrod are, olny taht the frist and lsat leettr be in the rghit pclae. Eve wiki says it best
Linkage
Combat Agression Timer (60 Seconds) Example: A pilot is outnumbered at a gate. He turns off all of his guns to stop all aggressive actions. He now has to tank for 60 seconds until he can jump through the gate and escape his attackers.
PvP Log Off Timer (15 Minutes) Example: A pilot escapes a tight situation after being shot at by a group of other pilots and warps to a safe spot. After evading his pursuers for 12 minutes he logs off from EVE Online. The pilots trying to find him are prepared and have a covert ops frigate on stand by with probe launchers. If they can probe out his ship within 15 minutes of him logging off, they can still destroy his ship. His capsule will be similarly vulnerable for 15 minutes after the destruction of his ship.
NPC Combat Log Off Timer (2 Minutes) This timer functions the same way as the PvP log off timer except it only lasts 2 minutes. It only applies if the PvP timer is not in effect and the pilot has engaged in combat with NPCs in the last 2 minutes.
These are per system timers, jumping clears them.

Jump and logout does not remove aggro timers, this is a strange myth which I've disproved several times!

Jumping doesn't clear it. I tested it on my alt. You still stay in space for 15 min.
