After spending a lot of time researching the forums, working the numbers, and plotting logistics, I've decided that I would like to make a complex reaction in one of our 00 systems.
My options are this:
1) Play it slow and set up a large POS and work the complex reaction from simples obtained in and shipped from empire.
OR
2) Just go all out from day 1 and set up the large for the complex and a few mediums to make the simples. I will have to buy and import the raw materials.
Based on your experiances getting started, what are your opinions?

Start out small first, get a feel of how to work it out. The haul in and out of the empire (raw materials or product)is a bit of an effort not to mention turning those silos on and off, the wait is infuriating, once you get POS chains for reaction. If you dont have the luxury of time, try to go slow. Yeah would be easier to set it up on low sec near Jita ^^ = shorter trips. Meh im just lazy.

Imho the profit from reacting (most of) the simples isn't worth the time investment providing that you're buying the mats. If you can afford the time and money for one pos run one complex (plus other stuff like invention). If you can run two pos's then run two complex. Etc. Depending on the market multiple t3 gas reactions can be very profitable if you can get a good deal on the mats. Sometimes running dual simples makes good money but it's never been good enough to stick with for any particular length of time.

I will have to do the numbers for two complex but here is what I came up with so far:
Complex Reaction imported simples: 1,007,497 per hour profit before sales fees and tax. Complex Reaction import raws; 1,893,722 per hour profit before sales fees and tax.
Per month thats 749,577,928 vs 1,408,929,168
I think all out might win this one!

You don't really give enough information on your proposed numbers to comment effectively. But look at it this way...
One tower running complex = 1,007,497 per hour profit 2 tower, 1 complex + 2 simple = 1,893,722 per hour profit 2 tower running 2 complex = 2,014,994 per hour profit
Going by your numbers. And that assumes that the complex that you're running is a 2 input, often the most profitable is a 4 input which would require 3 towers to make from raws.
Also, don't get blinded by the big numbers. Unless you have lots of peons working for you for free then you will be expending a lot of time doing POS fueling, reaction management and trading in order to get that profit.

dont forget, if you are going to buy the moon goo and react it in simple reactors yourself, please dont forget, each simple outputs 200 and hour, each complex can only take in 100 an hour, so half the mats at each pos and run 2 complexes or cut your profit in half, plus what are you gunna do with all that extra crap laying around

Can do 2 caldari large towers do simple into silo input into complex crossover simples and can boost profits way up also if one or both raws at moon

You can do that but it definitely requires checking it more.
