Why should CCP do anything? Good capitalistic initiative on behalf of the guys that own the site if you ask me.

Whats wrong with that? Its an outside webpage that is accessible through the EvE brower.
Maybe they should curse them and rain Baptist Hellfire upon their heads?

Sigh. Discuss the politics elsewhere please. Or it will end with a mega flame war. ---

The net is full of '****. I am sure you will find a clause in CCP terms that says they are not responcible for any content on the Internet. Much as most websites say..."We are not responcible for content outside of our own website".
This is clearly not CCP's responibility...at the **** is available on the Internet and is clearly not a function of the game.

CCP isn't the provider.
Nor are they responsible for age verification anymore than the bank providing regular **** sites with merchant services are responsible for age verification.
Nor are they responsible for what people access through the ingame browser anymore than your ISP is responsible for what what websites are accessed through their gateways.
I mean its like you want corporations to oblige each other like its sex or something. Pffft I would rather **** my enemy.- Rohann
Be careful out there. That other guy waiting in the queue for the gate MIGHT be a baby-munching frock-burner, YOU JUST DON'T KNOW!- Lallante |

Sorry to burst your bubble ghelp but it does say on the box IIRC (after the teen/mature rating whichever it is rating) Gameplay experience may alter when online. Like everything else in the world, if you online, you have the potential to run across things like this.
There is not **** 'In EVE' there is **** on the net. There is not **** 'In internet explorer', there is **** on the net. There is no **** 'In windows' either for that matter, but sans them it'd be pretty hard to access.
Now as a parent who might not want their kids to access material you might consider blocking the ip on your router/firewall software. Without getting into the issue of other blocking software and their broad specturm censorship of ideas as well as images, I don't believe they can block unless you're using netscape or ie so the in game browser may be a loophole around it. Anyone with more experience with these software packages is free to correct me :)
Check your router documentation about how to block an isp, XP comes with a firewall that I believe can be set to filter certain isp's. Third party software can also be purchased and probably downloaded as freeware that could provide this basic functionality.
Hope that helps anyone who may want to restrict access to this. I have spoken to the person who set this website up and I believe he does it for a living so I think he's aware of the necesary and sufficient legal issues surrounding it. Anyone with the EULA or COC handy know if CCP has a line on which website are accessible in game.
It is a fair assumption that CCP say something to the effect of "A valid credit card is required to play, (credit cards being accessible to only thos over 18 in most cases) and in the case of a minor must have parental permission before calling for entertainment purposes only" :)

Ghelp all you have to do is type a word wrong in the ingame browser and you could go to a **** site. That aint CCPs fault. Unless they schooled you in the fine art of spelling that is.
How long you been using the net anyway?
Mad Dog says: Bet I'm the only true Reverend in the game. It says so on the printout I got from an Internet site. |
