I see alot of posts here and many conversations in the chats ingame concerning how many ppl have been blown away trafficking in illicit goods (and even some not so illicit goods).
As a person who followed dev blogs on most of these introductions with the EXODUS expansion, I was fully aware of at least the basics of what to expect. In short, while the game may be far from perfect as far as the Dev's intent on what should/will happen if you're found trafficking in drugs and such....ppl getting whacked by concord or customs for carrying things like that are simply reaping the rewards of living a less than stellar lifestyle IMHO.
Use your heads ppl, it's not rocket science! If you're going to engage in illegal activities, sooner or later you're going to lose your butts at a gate somewhere.....usualy well within sight of many ppl who will most assuredly laugh themselves silly over your stupidity....then grab all those expensive new mods you just lost.
Conversely, here's a thought for the drug runner extraordinaire.....if Customs/Concord scans your ships cargo, are they capable of scanning INSIDE a passworded can inside your cargo? And, if not, why not transport your nefarious goods in this fashion? Most ships can carry at least one secure can of one size or another.....in the case of the larger industrial ships fitted with high end cargo expanders, they can carry 4-5 of the larger secure cans.
Now, if moving contaband in a secure can is a viable way to block cargo scanning.....wouldn't that be grand?

Anyone reading the devblogs would also know that agents don't ask you to do anything illegal, except for special offers. Ergo, an agent who want you to transport viral agent has obviously cleared it with the authorities. If you read teh posts you'll notice nearly all of them happened while oding missions, not while running trade goods.
Also, teh amount of lag makes it impossible to avoid customs agents by being quick to warp away; their insta lock and lag == in pod when finish loading.
BTW> secure cans/courier packages are no protection. If you're running a courier mission, and someone snuck a unit of viral agent in, you lose your ship and can do nothing about it.

The more I think about it the more I begin to wonder if I imagined it - but I created a character ages ago (sadly deleted long since) that I was sure had a smuggling skill.
Assuming this was the case, and not the product of my fevered imagination, it'd be nice to see this skill again. I expect smuggling could be a pretty lucrative pastime, especially with a way to at least try to confound the customs guys.

Well, I just rescued some slaves from a trader and got whacked for trying to return them to safety...that kinda puts to rest any credibility you had in this thread... KOZKAOS |

Same thing happened to me. Just doing missions, and accumulated supposedly illegal items, under the auspices of legal missions. Then since I am not a 'trafficker' what am I supposed to do with the slaves/contraband that we are TOLD to confiscate from pirates and slave traders?
Lost an indy. As far as I am concerned Concord is the worst pirate outfit in the galaxy. Shake your hand, then shoot you in the back. Headquarters: Nein, Republic Parliament Bureau |

Hello,
Its my opinion that contraband should have been left alone until such time as the skills or ship required to counter Customs scanning your ship and blowing you up were in game.giving us customs agents scanning are ships for contraband and nothing we can do about it is the part that sucks.
My idea remove customs agents and when you have a counter for them you will put them both in.Then not only will you have added to the game but you will have created a new profession.
Thanks
