Ive been playing eve off and on since 2003 and i have seen many good things change and develop, however the one thing that i feel that is letting the game down is that i feel the eve universe is now to small with the number of people that play.
In order to expand, develop and make the game bigger, badder and longer lasting i would like to see the universe made bigger. this can be done in a number of ways extra systems, stable wormholes on to the current map Or a new supergate has been created(possible expansion), this allows for a new universe to be colonised.
This would allow the large corps and alliances to branch out in to better rewarding systems and to expand Imangine AAA, PL, IT, EK etc going to build a even better empire which will reward them more but it would then allow the younger corps and alliances to start building up in the current universe.
This i feel would make the game more interesting and then gives scope for more expansions to come. What happens when we get more and more people in the game there is only so many systems
What do people think.
Is the current universe enough
or
do we need more space to grow

I believe at this time that the current Eve Universe is not over populated. However if the growth of Eve continues as it has been as of late within the next 12 - 18 months additions to the universe may be needed.
In the past new systems have been added so it can and im sure will be done how im unsure. But i do like the idea of the a supergate maybe with restrictions on how often you can use it.
CCP are the best at keeping secrets from us and im sure they have this already thought out :) ---

all im asking is how people feel, where your post has relevance not sure as putting extra systems is only coding, Eve has been around for over 7 years.
yes i agree its not as simple as switching a computer on but with as eve says 300,000 subscribers paying on average ú10.00 per month = ú3,000,000.00 per month. But the more people they get joining the more they will get. ive known a few people who i have helped out join and quit mainly due to sucide gankers with nothing to do to them and people that play 5,10,100m is small change but put yourself in there place with a small frig and 50k in your wallet. Eve is not safe i now that but when people are bored they annoy more than normal :)
The more space you have the more scope you have

Edited by: Serpents smile on 14/02/2010 15:42:50 CCP acknowledged that EVE was getting a bit "crowded" when they added wormholes. Don't think those 2500 additional systems are filled up yet.
And don't get me started about all those empty low sec systems, and a bunch of 0.0's I saw on my ways around.
HIGH SEC, now there you might be right in thinking is getting crowdy. I hate being in Gallente space, waaay too many peeps there, even more for Cal... squid space. Ugh 50-200 peeps in local, it gives me a rash.

Is the universe physically too small? No.
However, when you can cross from one side to the other in the blink of an eye via jump clones or jump from the top to the bottom of the map in a cap ship in less than an hour, I'd say it is small in that sense.

Don't be stupid, just watch local or join said corp or alliance. In the end you are only limiting yourself by doing all on your own. And no the game is not going to bend in your favor around your play style.

I agree with the Op that it's important but:
1. If its too big then the number of clashes and wars will go down, so CCP have to be very careful.
2. With the new patch you can improve any nul sec system, a problem in the past. So hopefully previously unused systems will be used. It will also take a while to see how the new system affects the EVE universe.
3. CCP brought out WH's to address this already and to help the smaller corps establish a base.
So I trust CCP do keep a close eye on this and have and will do something if needed, so its not something that concerns me.

The problem with a supergate is that if there's only one of them allowing ingress or egress to and from the new area of space, all the space behind the gate will essentially belong to whoever can camp the gate the best. As anyone holed up against an opposing force in an area that has only one way in or out will tell you, this is not fun. For a supergate to be viable you'd need multiple ones, spread widely enough that attempting to blockade all of them wouldn't be logistically feasible even for the largest alliances. -----

Realistically, empire space would expand and null space would expand as well. But seems eve is static and there is no further expansion by the eve races.
Ideally, a giant wormhole to another section of space to colonize would be great. ___________________________________________________ CSM - Bring back Medium Shader! |

Edited by: Chaos Incarnate on 14/02/2010 16:24:01 there are so many unoccupied or sparsely occupied systems, especially in 0.0 and in w-space; the only really overcrowded areas are trade hubs and caldari space.

Instabms return. Database server cries irl. Server crashes become even more regular. Everyone blames Khemul (granted, there are ways around instabms, but i don't think space is small enough to require reintroduction of warp to 15) _____________________ Horrors! Demons in the deep! |

The insta problem could probably be solved quite easily by not allowing BM warping to take you closer than 15km of a gate/station.
The only way the EVE universe is too 'small' is that travel is too fast. We see entire alliances relocating from one end of the universe to another, which adds greatly to the lag problem. It also makes it possible for alliances to own/control way too large an area, meaning most of it lies dead.
In addition to removing WTZ, the jump range of all jump capable ships should be halved (or more), and freighters should not be able to use bridges.
EVE has enough star systems, but it is too 'small' travel time wise.

Meanwhile, every pirates and suicide gankers cries in joy, as the majority of eve entrenches itself even more firmly in highsec and becomes super vulnerable to suicide ganks with no recourse available, while the alliances kept trucking on just fine, other than the logistic workers, who curses Kerfira with voodoo dolls at night.

If you increase traveling times between systems, the systems themselves need much more content. Right now, traveling is essential to get anything done, be it pvp roaming, missioning, exploration or even mining when belts run dry.
Making traveling both essential and a drag will only make people quit out of utter boredom. --------

I assume Siigari is saying you can't make the server twice as big overnight because it's grown and scaled up with CCP as a company over time, where CCP have given back what they could afford (or were willing to) from their profits to reinvest as their customer base grew.
That and servers are complicated and there'd be all sorts of weird thing and problems thrown up.
Personally I wonder how much strain the major trade hubs will take before they simply can't give any more.

Not necessarily, it means they are gankers, blobbers, noob griefers or pirates.
Trying to fix an issue by reintroducing perhaps the most boring mechanic every in any MMO is plain nuts. I wouldn't bother logging in for sure. I have better things to do than wait for my ship to get to a gate.

:\ I think everybody missed my point.
My point was, Microsoft started out as a small software company, and slowly grew to become the behemoth it is today, buying out smaller companies, destroying competition and making it generally hard for the "new guy" to make their mark.
Corporations such as Google however have come along and put up a fight, putting in the hard hours and investments to make their company succeed. If you want to become a strong corporation in 0.0 for example, you too must persevere.
It's not going to be handed to you on easy mode. You have to obtain it.

Know that the rumor of the original Sleeper Empire being intact, although abandoned and still functional, could be true.
An adventurer would only need to find one, and an entire chunk of space that could be charted would open up. Although a ghost empire, it would be a major space expansion, and the only way to get to it would be through a series of wormholes.
