If someone targets you, and you have this set to 1, you will target that person. if you have it set to 6, you will target 6 people as they target you.
Most dedicated pvp folks don't use it in fleet actions, as you want to be able to select what targets you lock on to.
the only time I've really found it handy is when hunting small spawns.

If someone targets you, and you have this set to 1, you will target that person. if you have it set to 6, you will target 6 people as they target you.

in fleet battle you wont to know whos attacking you it helps
