I've been flying around in cruisers for ages now and i decided to go and buy a Battleship. I have now realised I have no idea how to setup a BS for anything really. I was looking for a reasonably durable Mission ship for now, not really looking at any sort of PvP in it for ages , i.e. until I have learnt to fly it properly.
currently I have.
High Slots
4 x 350mm Carbide Rails (8600,192) 2 x 250mm Rails I (250,80)
Mid Slots
2x F-b10 Nominal Capacitor Regenerator (2,16) 1x 100MN MicroWarpdrive I (1250,75) 1x 'Langour' Drive Disruptor I (1,20)
Low Slots
1x Medium Inefeccient Armour Rep (150,23) 1x Medium Armour Rep (150,25) 1x Azimuth Descalloping Tracking Enhancer (1,4) 1x Gauss Field Balancer (1,26) 3x Energiesed Armour Plating (6,72)
Drones 15x Wasp 15x Ogre
The idea was to hit at long range with 350mm's and use the Webber and drones on things which closed in too far , with the 250mm's to give me a couple of midrange guns. Am I anywhere close with this stab or is it back the drawing board time with the completly diffrent setup. I think I could remove the MWD and replace 2 of the 350mm's with 425mm's to up the hitting power slightly. What do you guys think.

This setup will kill your cap very fast... If you want to fly level 4 missions (I presume) you'll need to drop the MWD and do a full tank (with 1 large and 1 med tech 2 repair at least). And you need to get your cap recharge under or around 200s to be able to maintain it.

For level 4 missions I'll be part of a fleet so I could lose the short range stuff to some extent.
So if I replace the MWD and Webber with 3 more Cap Recharges (Tech2?) and get a Large Rep and tech 2 medium rep to hold the tank. Would activting armour hardeners be better then the energised ones i'm using. I was worried about the cap drain on the activatable ones.

I've not done lvl 4 missions but have been hunting 0.0 NPCs for a while now and I'd say if your looking to do missions then boosting your cap is important. Personally, I fire two heavy nosferatus on my domis just to give them an extra boost to the cap charging.
I'd say using activated is advisable. I used energised to start with but you can get a good bit more resistance out of activated ones, which pays out as less damage taken and you might be able to switch your medium repairer off in certain situations.
Finally, it should go without saying 'know thy enemy'. This applies particularly with the Domi as you can select your drones before going into the fight so that your damage type matches the enemy's low resistances and your high resistances match the enemy's damage type.
Hope that helps.

for soloing lvl 3 missions the dom is great!. Strip your ship of all modules, fit a tank with 1 large armour rep, and 1 med one then damage specific hardeners (non passice types) to the npc damage type (check eve-i.com), if your doing serpentis a tehrmal and kientic will work. Now once you have the npc specific tank set up. Put as many heavy nos on as you can. fit an mwd. Put cap stuff in the med slots, If you want to collect the mission loot, buy an imicus, there really ship and you can just fit it with an mwd and collect all the loot from a mission.
Warp to the bm your agent gives you, lock the npc thats biggest, move tomwards him- you should have no trouble tanking it. Use the nos for cap managment. Then make sure every npc in the area is attacking your dom, Then once they're all attacking release the drones and just wait. Your tank will keep you alive and you don't sue any ammo. This setup doesn't work well with multiple wave spawns.
If you want to use guns, I strongly suggest getting medium 250mm. I don't no why more bs pilots don't use med gun in missions.

I have been using 6 250mm rails and be honest i've never been troubled on any lvl 3 mission. The Drones work really well on multi wave missions as they dont need you to lock on the second wave before they attack. Usually by the time you've locked everything is mostly dead. I just I would move up to Large guns as i've noticed after doing a couple of deadspace missions getting into range is a pain as you quite often start 60-70 km away form anything. Solution being fitting guns with a 60-70km range.
Thanks for your suggestions, i've never used Nos's so I'll train up and give them a go.
