So far I've got:
[Cheetah] Nanofiber Internal Structure II [empty low slot] [empty low slot]
1MN MicroWarpdrive II [empty med slot] [empty med slot] [empty med slot]
Covert Ops Cloaking Device II Expanded Probe Launcher I, Core Scanner Probe I [empty high slot]
Gravity Capacitor Upgrade I Gravity Capacitor Upgrade I
I just want to survive in 0.0, scan down targets, move into position to call in a gang on a target etc. What's the general thinking on a good fit for this ship at the moment?

Edited by: N''omad on 19/02/2010 15:40:07 align speed.. and er. well thats it..
if it know its a BIG region, and i have to be fast for some ******ed reason i'll fit those rigs that boost warp speed so i get 20au/sec
other than that i usually just stuff probe strength rigs in, failing that i go all out agility and minimize those pesky aligns.
pretty standard fare. either go for epic scans or epic GTFO's
edit: some people like 2 nano's and an OD, some go with an interia stabiliser, although i havent looked into them for the last 2 years so im not sure if they reduce align time still or anything (havent really played since the speed nerf thingy)
but yeah.. last i heard 2 nano's and 1 inertia stab is going to get u into warp fast.

Edited by: Ernesto DaSilva on 19/02/2010 16:09:54 afaik (pretty sure though) istabs are superior to nanos for pure align speed because 1) they reduce inertia by a greater amount per module and 2) they don't increase base speed (which would increase time to get to 75% again). and: best named (local hull conversion istab i) is better than t2 because they reduce inertia by the same amount but add less sig penalty.

I tend towards the 2 nano+ Overdrive in lows
mids + a scram/ disruptor high + salvager 1.
These are purely optional, the scram is there for those times when sacrificing the cheetah (maybe)is worth it to ensure you hold something juicy in place just long enough to get proper tackle on it. Try to avoid this if possible, scouting your gang home in a pod is not fun .

consider a cyno generator in the utility high, never know when more friends in bigger ships maybe needed.
a salvager can be nice when you find a t2 wreck on a gate.
i usually have the 2 nano one overdrive lows to get out of a bubble asap.
consider a ECM burst for the mids, helps to get agro on a target if you are getting them after the have "connection" issues.
not all need to be onlined at the same time, in a frig cap recharge is pretty quick for swapping online modules on the fly

Originally by: Ernesto DaSilva they don't increase base speed (which would increase time to get to 75% again).
A ship's acceleration is independent of its top speed (i.e. you accelerate by a certain % of your top speed each second); if you fit ODs to a ship its top speed will increase but the time it takes to reach that top speed will not. Increasing your max speed with static modules does not affect your align time but pulsing a MWD or getting webbed can.
If you're going to go with a scram in the mids, a sensor dampener with a scan resolution script may help keep you alive long enough to disengage when your gang gets there. -------------------- "I am hard pressed on my right; my centre is giving way; situation excellent; I am attacking." - Ferdinand Foch at the Battle of the Marne |

Sorry but you're wrong, I've fit ODs too many times. Zero to warp time is BADLY affected by ODs. Your acceleration remains the same, but the speed you need to get to for 75% is higher and it takes longer to get there because agility (which determins acceleration) is unaffected by ODs. OD fits all maneuver like pigs.

This.
If you want fast aligns, go Nano. IStab will help acceleration but it will increase your sig rad, which is critically evil in those precious few seconds. OD probably isn't going to help you get out of a bubble, any more than your MWD is already doing it.
That said, I usually fit two nanos and an OD to my scouts, or just all nanos. I know it's stacking nerfed, but there are no side effects besides hull strength, and if you're getting hulled, you're ****ed anyways.

I was a bit unclear in my post; I didn't say anything about align times, I was just correcting someone about straight-line acceleration. For straight-line acceleration, fitting an OD will not change the time it takes to get from zero to a given percentage of your top speed, but if you're maneuvering it will which is why it's better to fit iStabs or Nanos if you're worried about fast aligning. -------------------- "I am hard pressed on my right; my centre is giving way; situation excellent; I am attacking." - Ferdinand Foch at the Battle of the Marne |
